Finished the prologue. I’m glad that Lana understood Monica. And overall everything seems to go well. Except for the new antagonist, but it is like obvious that sometimes like that would happen.

- Continuing the final essay, nearly done. Perfect example of something I wouldn’t even read in English (a very esoteric essay about how to translate a literary insult into english, has now turned to talking about Truman Capote insulting Jack Kerouac over On The Road on 1950s television, which will give you a sense of the kind of stuff this essay is talking about), though surprisingly it’s still fairly readable in JPN… at least after I look at the eng translation, then look back at the JPN and think oh so that’s how that works.
- Started the final volume of 甘々と稲妻, will be so sad to see this go as it’s one of the series I have really wonderful memories of, but also it’s so nice to be able to just… read this. And it’s not like I won’t re-read it… I mean, hell, I’ll probably pick up physicals one day.

Extremely tired today. And the thing is, I knew it was the type of tiredness where if I sat up and did something, I’d be fine (well, for a certain definition) …except I was too tired to even have the energy to do that. I hardly did anything until nearly 6 p.m. I read more in EN than in JP.

Another eh day, despite which I managed to do more than I expected.
Still a bit ill which is messing up sleep which is messing up everything. Plus busy at work today and tomorrow. Thursday off though, so will try to のんびりに回復.
This part of アフターダーク was really really well written. I think 村上 is often best when giving characters extended monologues (at least when they have something interesting to say), and this was a good one.

- Fairly productive morning.
- Finished my essay book. A good dip into non-fiction and probably a really good study text, except I don’t particularly want to study. Feels good to read it though after hanging around on my shelf for (checks calendar) uh over a decade
- Finished 甘々と稲妻12 and thus the whole series, cried like two or three times throughout. A wonderful read that deeply improved my food vocab and felt like I was growing up alongside the characters. Like I predicted this felt more like an epilogue of sorts with a lot more jumping around the character’s lives ‘after the end’, so to speak, but that just made it more satisfying. Highly, highly recommended.
Not sure what’s next on the horizon for the ol’ JPN - will think about that after gym (which is after work).
