Almost 5000 characters from Island today. I want to keep reading, but it seems that for now, 5000 is my limit. It takes so long to read when I have to look up several words per sentence. Looking forward to when I can read more without looking up vocab all the time!

Interesting! I had to check Jisho for some hints on how it differs from 悪化 but it’s not saying much ？！

I think it’s funny how it compares to 改良(かいりょう) or 改善(かいぜん). Indeed, かえって悪(わる)くする. It’s closer to 改善(かいぜん), though.

I dedicated a few hours to finishing Atelier today, it was nice to sit comfortably in my robe with a crispy glass of ice water and enjoy the last two chapters of the story ^^ I already have the next volume queued up, I don’t think I’ll be able to put this series down until I reach the end

I’m rotating the next volume of Naruto into my reading schedule along with another series that I haven’t decided on yet (for bingo purposes). I’m thinking of reading something for the “nostalgic” category next?

Words of the day

• 法被(はっぴ) = Happi - Wikipedia (法被/半被), a traditional tube-sleeved Japanese coat
• とばっちりを食(く)う = to get caught in the blow.
• やもめ = widower (寡夫(やもめ)); widow (寡婦(やもめ)). Used to be also 寡夫(やもお). やも maybe from 病(や)む / 屋(や)守(も)り.
• 赤(あか)チン = mercurochrome; red antiseptic. From 赤(あか)い沃度丁幾(ヨードチンキ).
• アンコウ = goosefish; sea devil. Kanji form is 鮟鱇(あんこう). Maybe think of an(gler) fish with 光(こう).
• 体面(たいめん) = reputation; honor. Like 体裁(ていさい),   面目(めんぼく) and also 沽券(こけん), perhaps.

Book Club day!
Only done with Chapter 1 of とんがり帽子のアトリエ but can easily see it becoming one of my favorite manga!
(葬送のフリーレン is really fun too, but the pace is slower, need to see more!)
Didn’t play ISLAND today because I read 蛇にピアス instead. Quite a different tone than the other things I’m currently reading.

I’m enjoying this series more than I expected. The art is lovely, and its an unusual way to be discovering new music

Continuing the theme of books for this week, I read the chapter of the IBC. According to ttsu, that’s the halfway point in terms of characters. Once again, didn’t quite make it in one sitting, but now tomorrow I want to finish a volume of 放浪息子 as all this book time means I haven’t finished anything this week Technically I have enough progress banked up for my 52 manga volume goal and I did plenty of novel reading this week, but still nice to keep the trend going.
