ジャングルから脱出せよ - Jungle Escape, 2 pages.

Lost in a visual novel game these past few days, I didn’t read much. Time pass so fast when you’re having fun (and hours of sleep disappear) But I want to have fun reading too. I like my daily reading routine. I hope I’ll find a balance.

another 25 or so pages of すきとも which continues to very cosy and pleasant to read. having said that it looks like things are shifting a bit from the second half onwards? we’ll see. also did the renshuu intermediate read, enjoyed it a lot (the art is great!) but kind of wished it was longer. wanted to see more of that world!

today’s nhk article was this one (and this one ish), and the entry on というの～ことだ in aDoIJG

words that stood out:

Words of the day

• 好都合(こうつごう) = convenient(ly)
• 打(う)ち克(か)つ = to conquer with utmost effort. 克(か)つ is an alternate form of 勝(か)つ.
• 常夜灯(じょうやとう) = an all-night light. First two Kanji can also be read 常夜(とこや). I confused with 通夜(つや).
• 青系統(あおけいとう) = color in the range of blue; bluish color. From ～系統(けいとう).

3 more pages of the Orange light novel. Todays pages were set in Matsumoto’s Nawate Street, which is fun because I visited there a month ago not knowing that it was relevant to Orange. After I read these pages I got the manga off my shelf to find the same part of the story to see the artwork, and it was nice to recognise it a little.

• Finished ひな3 which, somewhat to my surprise (though also not), was the end of this little series. I really liked the series as a whole; even though it’s definitely not ‘amazing’ in terms of quality (the art in particular I think can be quite rough, and the panelling can sometimes feel a bit more rushed when compared to more experienced mangaka) but as part of my learning journey I’m really happy to have read this. I’ve written about it a little elsewhere – the topline is it’s a serious story about elementary schoolers and puberty, particularly from the female perspective – but I think it walks a really good line between being easy to understand because it’s about older kids on the cusp of middle school, but still having some complicated terminology because it’s about puberty but also about feelings and emotional genuineness. A great read.

I finally finished volume 2 of Naruto!! I started this volume back in October so it was past time to lay it to rest lol (and then I immediately started volume 3) (why they always gotta end on a cliffhanger…)

I also gave some attention to volume 2 of Atelier, which I’d genuinely forgotten I had already started. The panels in this story are just so beautif- [insert long taiyou-esque poetry about how the art is really cool and Shirahama is my idol and i’d die for this series etc etc] anyway, the white-haired dad figure has returned so you already know i’m gonna be locked into this volume for the next few days

Missed two days, but not going to let that get me down! (or try to lie about it lol)

Yesterday, I read all the series in Sunday that I’m caught up on (sadly not Frieren or Mao yet) and today I did my Harta reading for the first time in ages guilt intensifies. Been super busy with work but will do my best to keep my progress moving forward!!!

Today I got to read some very special new things! I ordered a package of some game stuff a while back, but one of the games got bundled incorrectly so I got to add in a few other tiny things to make the international shipping worth it.

I’ve temporarily lifted my ban on buying new physical manga to buy the very pretty green yuri music manga, my miyamoto-unapproved copy of hatsune miku fitness boxing, and an N64 copy of Ocarina of Time!

Read(/played):

• Miku Boxing (~30 min) - at some point this wont really be all that much reading, but i got to go through all the fun tutorial and setup stuff, so I’ll count today’s session
• ゼルダの伝説時のオカリナ ~30 minutes of actual playtime, several hours of troubleshooting and praying - I was having some technical issues getting it running, but I believe I have fixed them and ready to start an actual playthrough!
