had no internet for a while so today was a good day to start 探偵ガリレオ by 東野圭吾 which is a series of short detective mystery stories and the first in this series. it’s a little tricky, with some rarer kanji, minimal furigana, and basically none for names. fine for 良介 less so for 龍男 or whatever 一之 is supposed to be 
but i’m having fun so far! only about 23 pages in tho (about a third of the first story). it’s quite long too, 300-smth pages, so i’ll be reading this for a while i think

words that stood out:
ずんぐり - short and stout

子機 - telephone extension, cordless phone. the base unit is called 親機 which is cute
