October 19th - Home post
And just like that, I’m done with Island. 100%, everything, every last word, every last choice, everything. 17.000 characters today, about 800.000 characters all in all. All the way from March until now, from level 6 until level 18. Was it too hard for me? Yes, absolutely. Was I crazy to start a looong long VN at level 6? Yes, no doubt about that. Do I regret it? No, not at all. I have learned so much from it, my reading abilities have grown so much, and most of all, I have had so much fun with it. Now I just have to find another long VN to read!

- Progress on 元かれ. The freaking cat’s 関西弁 is by far the most difficult part of this, even including the business language. Thankfully I think DeepL et al have enough exposure to 関西弁 that it can mostly parse it, at least enough for me to go look things up properly.
- Started reading こういうがいい2 because I felt like it. It’s such a chill manga… maybe too chill… where else are you going to learn 連れしょん to go piss together [presumably to save time or as a way of fostering intimacy]

Day 19: Had a really decent birthday although not all of my presents made it in time. Just means that next week is going to almost be an extension of the happiness, eh? 
Managed to get a little bit of Shadows House reading in today, and I count that as a win.

I broke the streak! 
Missed reading anything on the 19th, was so busy with helping my parents out at their place, by the time I got home I was too exhausted to do anything and just went to bed.
Anyway, i’m up to chapter 4 now in ハイキュー！！.
in my Japanese lessons we are covering 命令形 at the moment which is handy as it is used a lot in this manga!
My goal is to finish out October with only that one day missed and strive for a full month in November

Week 3: (Oct. 14 - Oct. 20 2024)
- My current reading material is still the カードキャプターさくら ABBC although I’m reading so slow rn. For this week’s reading, I just read in a straight manner, without looking up too much unknown vocabs. For the vocabs that I recently learned and encountered in the wild, I tried to remember the reading first before using Yomitan to double check it.
- Read pages 23-26
- I also started with some free stories from Satori Reader. I can see how it’s really good because the look up has both the dictionary form and the conjugated for of the verbs.

Finished Zelda yesterday 
Cleared 100%, all quests, all items. Now I don’t have any other game to play in Japanese. It was perfect for a beginner!
I’ve read a page from “366 Things Elementary students should know” today and will continue to do that until I find something else to play.
