今日はちょっとやばいね。帰宅時は眠かったから集中できなかった。そして、前のセーブをロードにしました。それで、日常的なゲームプレイ―を帰りました。丸喜先生のソシアルリンクを再開始まりましたから、嬉しい！いよいよ続けることが出来ました。でも、私の優しさが足らないんだから佐倉さんのソシアルリンクを進めない。残念ですけど真のソシアルリンクはほとんど続けますが丸喜先生ののは優先目標ですね。

• オールドファッションカップケーキ ch 2 through end. I didn’t even realize until that scene that Nozue-san doesn’t have a mole on his neck in the manga. I like that his actor does. Kissing the mole on his neck is better than just kissing his neck (or maybe I just like moles).
• SUGAR MILK, but skipping 虹の残り香 since it’s student x teacher, bleh. I mostly got it for ホワッツ ユア ネーム？ and its follow-ups, but I like the others too, particularly 冬を待つ季節. That one has sort of a similar feel to Hideyoshico’s stories.
• 5 pages of 透き通った風が吹いて, leaving off on pg 115. This was the first time I came across 辛うじて and actually knew what it meant, though I’m sure that was only due to context, since I don’t think I’ve looked it up after the first time lol. I wonder if I’ll remember it now… Anyway, after this, it seems like there won’t be any more super long sections, which is nice. I like having natural places to stop lol

finished the last chunk of case 4, which means we’re now back in time with where we finished off with the first case! after what, 20 something hours? was a good time tho, even if some of the specifics of nuance were lost on me in places. needed to fill time, so read the first chapter of 無抵抗主義(むていこうしゅぎ), cos i needed a story wrapped up in one volume. it’s…i needed something a little bit silly with minimal plot, and this fulfils that need. surprisingly text heavy.

words that stood out: 起訴(きそ) (prosecution, indictment. shocked this is the first time this has come up), ぞくぞく (shivering, shuddering, thrilled), 安楽死(あんらくし) (euthanasia), and 金輪際(こんりんざい) (not at all, not by any means, not ever) which i will probably never see again but had an unexpected meaning.

こんにちは、皆さん！

先週の週末に町に祭りに参加してあまり読むことができなかったが、大丈夫です。

電車内に二時間ぐらいに一夕話の読書練習をしました。この話には泥棒がある家に踏み込んでピストルを向けながら「金の全部を出せ！」と言っていました。男は「金が必要ならばこれはどうだ。。。一万円にそのピストルを売ってもらいたい」と言ってすこし間をおいて泥棒はこんにちは、皆さん！

でも、泥棒がピストルを売りました早々、「あはは、残念だが、そのピストルは偽物だから打てないんだよ！」と大きな笑顔で言っていました。

その時、泥棒が窓を開けて逃げました。男は「待って！」と言って泥棒を追いました。近くのまわりさんがすぐ気がづいて二人を止めさせて捕まえちゃった。金とピストルを見ていると実は金が偽物でピストルが本物だった。

それで泥棒が逃げたかったね。。。

Words of the day

• あわや(.) = almost; on the verge of. あわやというところで in context.
• ざっくばらん = outspoken; candid. Like, 率直(そっちょく).
• チョチョイのチョイ(.) = a piece of cake. Seems to come from チョイチョイ.
• 棹(さお)さす = to pole (a boat). 棹(さお) is a pole for a boat, but 釣(つ)り竿(ざお) would be fishing rod.
• 戦(たたか)い抜(ぬ)く = to fight through to the end
• レッテルを貼(は)る = to label someone as. レッテル is from Dutch [letter] = a label, e.g. on a bottle. Maybe meaning has evolved?
• 燦々(さんさん) = bright (sun-sun)
• 五里霧中(ごりむちゅう) = totally at a loss. Probably so thick a fog that can’t see more than 5 Li (2.5 km, think boat navigation inside a mist). Somewhat opposite of 千里眼(せんりがん).
• 廃屋(はいおく) = a deserted house
• 蟠踞(ばんきょ) = being firmly rooted
• 奇矯(ききょう) = eccentric. The second Kanji is from 矯正(きょうせい) (correction). Some other ききょう include 桔梗(ききょう) , 帰郷(ききょう) (homecoming), 気胸(ききょう) (pneumothorax).
• 右顧左眄(うこさべん) = vacillation; hesitation. There is also 顧眄(こべん) = looking back around. Weird last Kanji.
• 伝家(でんか)の宝刀(ほうとう) = treasured family heirloom sword = trump card (必殺技(ひっさつわざ)) / one’s last resort
• 無礼講(ぶれいこう) = an unrestrained, free and easy, party. It’s OK to be 無礼(ぶれい). (Also, it’s a party.)
• 矜恃(きょうじ) = dignity. I might have seen as 矜持(きょうじ), where the Kanji is 持(も)つ. Second Kanji is a rather unique one, meaning reliance. First Kanji, is a now (今(いま)) warrior, holding a lance (矛(ほこ)) by his side.
• 艱難辛苦(かんなんしんく) = hardships; trials and tribulations. First Kanji is, a good (rooty) proof of being a (Chinese) Han?

Wow April is already over!

I’m happily surprised I managed to read something every day. I’m also happy with the number of manga I read. I was expecting closer to 15. One thing I wanna improve on this month is my novel reading. I want to finish キノの旅１this month so I can start something new. I’m eyeing すずめの戸締まり and コーヒーが冷めないうちに which are both almost twice as long as キノの旅１. If I pick those, I’ve got to speed up a bit if I’m going to get to my goal of five novels finished this year.

Thanks for reading through all that. Glad that you had the satisfaction to read something and understand it completely because it only happens once in a while for me (to be honest i can only completely read like %60-70 of things and i get what you mean by skipping over kanji lol, i’ll try to be more adamant about it from now on though and actually sit through and learn them since it helps)

Read 2 episodes (twice) from コナの大冒険. I read it once without going into grammar details, and then I read it again properly with all the vocab and grammar notes.

I’m enjoying this method because for some werid reason I’m reading fast?? and I feel like it’s more effective than trying to understand everything and get everything right in the first read.

Tileworld Chronicles - Markus Ascent Chapter 1, p. 10 - 13
After Markus and Christina eat dinner, they talk about why Markus wanted to search for runestones. Apparently he makes gadgets out of them, as he later gifts her a bracelet that functions as a smartphone.

So many katakana again, but I suppose Japanese people love putting those everywhere, so this is the real and authentic experience.

Loopers : rest of chapter 12

Man, I accidentally napped this afternoon, I should know better. I KNOW better, and yet I still did it. 1.5 hours of nodding off and semi-waking, and then when I finally stop that, another 1.5 hour of serious grogginess that was a lot like having my brain blue screen for that amount of time. (I’m dating myself there )

Anyway, I also read the rest of chapter 12 of Loopers. Nice with some short chapters.
