Well I made a big effort and managed to finish 本好き before the end of the year! I was trying to reach a total of 40 books or manga total (down from the original plan of 50).
In total I read 6 English books, 6 Japanese books, 27 volumes of manga and the basic grammar dictionary.
I’m going to try for 50 again next year. The area I really failed in was English language books (which is my native language). I wanted to read at least one per month but failed miserably.
While I was listing out and counting up all the stuff I read this year for my 2023 wrap up post, I realized I was like really close to finishing 100 volumes of book/manga this year, which gave me a little bit of a push to try to knock out a few more things before the end of the year Then we ended up spending a lot more time doing our friend christmas/new years stuff and I decided that was an acceptable reason to miss out on doing some reading. Maybe next year I’ll hit 100 volumes I’m sure if I counted up all the random spare chapters of doujin, webcomics, manga I only read the first chapter rather the first volume of, etc, that I’m actually well over 100 volumes worth of content, but not gonna cheat to sneak over the finish line at the last second A volume is a volume is a volume is a volume, or something like that

「死体」と「遺体」の違いとは - 違いがわかる事典 this article about different ways to talk about dead bodies, I was mainly looking for the difference between 死体 and 遺体 (since that came up in persona), but then also learned about 遺骸 and 死骸
ONE PIECE カラー版 ch 1 - there were a few temporary free reads on bookwalker that felt like they’d be fun to try. No real desire to catch up on this on in jp. Even catching up in english took me quite a bit of time It was fun to see luffy say the thing, though
a bunch of 同人 stuff, they really shouldn’t put comiket so close to the end of the year… people keep posting things and previews of stuff and I keep reading them instead of the stuff i “should” be working on
huge congrats there!! Even falling behind the primer club finishing that is a huge accomplishment, glad you managed to squeeze it in before the end of the year Especially with how personal it gets, I know I mentioned this before but I was really having trouble with it relating to my personal experiences, and it sounded like you were in a similar emotional boat especially towards the end there. ギリギリ or no that’s a great achievement
Even though I missed 8 days of reading, this was the best reading month this year. I finished 5 books of the 6 I read (only one of which I started this month though), and read a total of 1273 pages, with an average of 41 pages per day.
With a total of 10535 pages and 36 finished books I can say I’m happy.
I am however starting 2024 with 5 unfinished books. One is a sadly neglected book club book that I want to try and catch up with asap, and another one is a sadly neglected book that I really liked but got shoved aside due to too many book clubs.
Hopefully I can manage my book-club-joining impulses better this year!
Well I fell off really hard the last five weeks. I did read a few more days but I didn’t even write it down… I had a lot going on so I’m not gonna beat myself up over it and start anew now that it’s January!
