Is anyone else getting a little frustrated with how long these new radical illustrations are taking?
Cuz at the pace they are going.. they won`t finish till like 2029… very La Sagrada Familia like lol.
For context, I’m level 14. At the pace these are being released, I honestly don’t see how they’ll ever catch up to me. When this project was first announced, I was really excited… I’m a visual learner, so like it sounded like th perfect upgrade.
But here’s where I’m struggling.
Every time a new illustration gets added, the explanation for the radical also changes (usually just slightly, but enough that it’s different from what I originally learned.) So if I forget a radical later, I’m not just reviewing… I’m relearning a new version of it. As someone who relies on visual stories, that’s actually sooooooooooooo confusing.
I already have an image and a short story in my head for these radicals. When that changes after the fact, it messes with my retention and accuracy like crazy. At this point, I’ve started ignoring the new pictures altogether, which feels kind of ironic given that I was excited about them because I’m a visual learner.
I’ve seen staff posts saying “we’re working on it” and that these things take time .. and I do genuinely appreciate that this isn’t AI-generated and that care is going into it. I get that. But at the same time, it feels like this project is moving extremely slowly.. and it’s starting to affect the learning experience rather than improve it.
Honestly, I’d much rather see:
-
a clear plan or timeline for when radicals will be updated, or
-
all of them released at once when they’re finished, instead of trickling in and changing things mid-stream.
I’m curious if other people, especially visual learners, are feeling the same way.
How are you handling the changing explanations?
(also wani kani i still love you! dont worry.. it is just fucking with how i learn.. I made another post about this september of last year! yall arent even on level 13 yet!)
