Chapter 13
I found this quite hard going again this week. It’s all key dialogue without any light relief! The chapters are only 20 pages but they feel longer…
The plot is moving forward quickly and the revelations come think and fast. I think my favourite revelation this week was around the little bunny incident. It had always seemed like an accidental discovery by Emma and Norman at the gate. It was quite a shift to realise it had all been orchestrated by Ray to allow them to discover the truth for themselves.
Ray is such a great character. On one face he’s a great ally - intelligent, tactician, great logical thinker. On the other side he has this really creepy air about him - particularly in some of the facial expressions he pulled this week. The kids job was difficult enough - but it gets even more difficult now with this potential double-crossing ally on their team.

Yeah, my previous reading ahead took me the second page of this week’s reading, then I decided to stop.
I was home in the UK over Xmas and explained to my nephew what manga was. Got into trouble with my sister for showing him the scary page where the twist occurs in volume 1. Anyway, I just found out he’s up to volume 5 (in English)!
I’m tempted to try to catch up with him

Its nice having watched the anime so long ago. At this point, I barely remember any of the plot, so it’s almost like I’m seeing it for the first time.
Story comments
Unless I missed something, they didn’t go into detail about how Rei (Ray?) found out the truth at such a young age. I wonder how he managed to stumble into it.

That’s funny. Out of interest how old is the nephew? We had new neighbours a few years ago and the 11y old girl was really into 約束ネバーランド, even cosplaying some of the characters!
Same for me, I remember the broad direction it is heading but very few of the details. So I’m enjoying the discovery and the speculation again.
By the way, two volumes in I still struggle spelling the title of this manga, whether in English or Japanese! I don’t know which word is trickier - Promised (I could swear every time one of those consonants should be doubled) or ネバーランド (getting the vowel extenders in the right place being a common issue for me - オートミール has been going round and round in my Anki deck recently).

This is the last week for volume 2. I will schedule a week break before starting volume 3 unless anyone has any other thoughts.

Although after reading that final chapter and the teasers for volume 3 you might not want a break at all!!
