I’m building J-Engage*, a community for English and Japanese learners to help each other, and I’d love for you to join! Whether you’re looking to improve your English, practice Japanese, or even tutor others, this is a space for language learning and making new friends. There is a small membership fee for students but at 5 pound it is as low cost as we can make it ( to cover the cost of the website) We are looking for interest and want you to joing our community. Please consider the website if you are learning the language. jengage.com for more details
Yo I’m not going to flag this but I just want you to know this is super-close to spamming. It is a thing many people here would be interested in, and things like Kitsun, BunPro, etc. have had successful threads and discussion.
On the other hand, those were made by community members, and you seem to have created a free account for the sole purpose of advertising your thing. Do you intend to stick around and field questions and feedback in the thread, or just drop an ad and bolt?
EDIT: on second thought I am going to flag it. Explain to the moderators, not to me. If they allow it, it’s up to them.
I appreciate your thoughts and they make sense. I am more than happy to join the community and I had already done a bit of learning before I dropped in the message. In regards to the spam/mod situation, I didn’t want to do something I wasn’t allowed so I reached out and asked for permission first. I am not really sure how the different threads worked so I dropped it in multiple as our only aim is to try and get affordable language development to as many as we can. We don’t even want to charge but have to at the moment to pay for the website - I’m sorry if you had any bad perceptions - That wasn’t our intention and we apologise
Good thought! Wasn’t the reason for the creation of it. J-Engage was a combination of Japanese and English Engage - It is a site where people can find voluntary native speakers who help them with oral practice
Ah, ok cool, I’m good with whatever the mods decide. I think the responding in-thread even makes it perfectly fine with me and not feel like spamming.
(For whatever my opinion is worth, it’s the mods’ site, not mine)
Might have been good to indicate that intention/invitation for questions in the original post, but eh, nobody’s perfect. Good luck with your thing.
