My only opinion about tracking is that I do better with simple. Like the format of your app seems simple enough. You just have to click on the book to mark it as read?
That’s right! You just click the star next to the book title to mark it as read. So maybe the wiki post here will just be an overall progress thing like:

If people want to use it :D. I would love it if people shared their favorite books and such too as we go!
This is a good way to track since typing out all of the titles would be quite the task!
Also, on the website I love how it says, “List of ‘one- time only full browsing’ items” in English. Must have caught on that learners are using their site for free reading material. I do have a set of graded readers but they’re so bloody expensive to keep buying!!!
Anyway, I am excited for the challenge. I like this idea of scaffolding and easy topics with pictures are a good fit. I get so intimidated by walls of text- my eyes don’t know where to settle- so I am hoping these picture books will help me slow down and not feel overwhelmed.
Yeah, graded readers are quite expensive! That’s one reason why I love this resource so much.
Sometimes I think the language in the children’s books can be challenging because there can be a lot of “child speak” and onomatopoeia, but overall the combination of short sentences + lots of pictures + the huge amount of exposure, should help with understanding!
I started today with the 0 y-o Montesori books which actually don’t have any words in them
So I looked up the words I didn’t know from them, just so it actually made me learn a few things → rhinoceros, ladybug, pinecone…
I also want to propose something extra if that’s ok. I assume there will be some days where I won’t be able to read my daily amount of books.
Is it ok to read ahead in advance? I think in that case the thread should have a sort of book limit on discussion or something. So after four days, we can discuss up to book 16, even though I might have read ahead to book 20. Maybe if everyone has read ahead, we could increase that number if necessary.
And I was wondering, might it not be a good idea to start with 5 or maybe even 6 books a day, and then slowly decrease the amount of books per day as the books get more and more complex? I doubt that the last books will be books we can read in a day, let alone four of them at once.
I’ve added sura-sura.com to a resources section in the original post, so thanks for that!
I’ll also add the “Favorite book so far” column to the wiki table. If people want to fill it out they can :D.
I think there may be too much variation in pace to really hold the thread to a certain # of book. If people are worried about spoilers, maybe questions or plot discussions can happen behind spoiler tags, or the “hide details” post feature?
For me personally I don’t mind seeing details from books I haven’t read yet, but I know others might feel differently. If someone wants to create a poll, that might be the best way to determine how we handle the day-to-day book talk :).
I don’t know how to add myself to your post, but count me in. This sounds really cool. I may not understand a lot so far, given my current level, but I’ll take any chance to read some native material to gain some reading practice.
