I’m on level three vocab, and WK keeps giving rules about when on’ and kun’ readings normally apply. So far I think they all boil down to: jukugo normally uses on’yomi, everything else kun’yomi. Is it actually that simple, or have I missed something?

That’s pretty much it, though it’s not set in stone. Particularly newer compounds might still have their kun readings.

Thank you kindly. I’ve already come across a lot of singleton On’yomi exceptions, but it’s the “normally” rules I need to know.
Body parts usually use the Kun-yomi reading even if they are Jukugo words.
