Olympians (medalists announced - congrats everyone!)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it and I love this community. It is so much nicer than some of the other ones I tried getting into.

Where can you buy these plushies? I feel like my studying will increase ten fold with them as well.

Thank you for asking this question. I really wanted to know this too!

No idea if you could get them a few bucks cheaper somewhere else. Shipping is probably the largest factor. Pretty sure there were also keychains and the like that are a bit cheaper than the 24cm (9.5 inch) plushies.

I’ve been told Someity is fluffier, higher quality and simply greater in every regard than Miraitowa.
It’s pretty obvious which one you should get :upside_down_face:

I’m not too invested in the Olympics also, but treating it as a goal sounds fun! I’ve added myself.
I’m slugging through a large pile of leftover vocab lessons currently. This is the perfect motivation to get through them all and conquer the second half of Wanikani!

みんな頑張って!

Wow, almost 70 people joined in! I’m actually planning another reset to level 21 when I reach 41, so I might not make it to 60 in time for the end of the Olympics. But I imagine I’ll be somewhere in the 50s by then.

Can I ask, out of interest why reset to level 21? How many times have you reset?

I have reset twice so far, once from 60 to 1, then from 21 to 11. Later I plan to reset from 41 to 21. When I have gurued all level 60 kanji, I will reset to 41 one more time.

My main motivation is to read the new example sentences that are being added little by little. I’m hoping that by the time I reach 41 they will have added two more example sentences to every vocab item in the 20s and 30s.

Also coming soon are the new audio files, they will hopefully sound better and will correct some mistakes.

And I thought doing it once was a lot

Press F for respect. I am overwhelmed at times at level 4 lol. Definitely something to aspire to when I hit 60

I feel like I need them both. Though they are a lot more expensive than I realized. Maybe I will buy one as a reward for level 20 and level 40. I’m hoping I can get that far by then.

Very understandable. I don’t think I can carry on much longer without Someity :c

Yeah, it’s a lot if you go full speed because in some cases you’d have to do around 300 to 400 reviews a day. Since I reset I’ve been going at a slow speed, I almost never have more than 150 reviews a day, sometimes I only get 50.

If I go at full speed, I might be able to burn all my items by then :eyes:. Practically speaking tho, I might just barely be able to reach Lvl 60 if I keep going.

Sign me up, I might not get close to 60 but I’ll give it a go. Just marking a date on my calendar is extra motivation to keep pushing myself.

Sign me up for this challenge too. This is a very good way to keep up my motivation.

The official Tokyo2020Shop does have a bigger range of mascots and appears to be slightly cheaper, but it seems like you’d have to use a shipping service like Forwarding service connecting overseas customers and Japanese online stores [tenso.com]

That 40cm (15.75 inch) version though…

This Countdown Calendar may as well have been made for us

They look so cool! Wanikani sent me some stickers too, they arrived a while ago back home but since I live in a college dorm I haven’t got the chance to go home yet.

I want to see these stickers so badly ;(… (a̶n̶d̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶f̶a̶m̶i̶l̶y̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶I̶ ̶g̶u̶e̶s̶s̶)
