New way to practice katakana! 😂

I think we’ve all had that moment when we realized we’re better at reading hiragana and kanji better than katakana.

Look no further. The solution to all your problems is here. All you have to do is switch your phone language to Japanese, open up your map app, and start reading every town name in your state. :tada: Have fun!!!

Nice idea! I’m using Google Maps on Android and I can also see the native names under the katakana. What app/phone are you using?

I’m using an iPhone on the built-in Apple Maps app. It doesn’t have any English on it. But I made sure to place Japanese on a higher priority in my phone’s settings. Maybe English is still prioritized on your phone or it’s just a feature of the android.

SRS some katakana words. After 100 or 200, you’ll be good to go

I think it’s a feature because I put Japanese as a higher priority and French places are still in French below the katakana. Same with Russian places.
Strangely, Korean places are written with romanized Korean and Hangul. No katakana

ニューアーク vs ニューヨーク took me a second to figure out. At first I was wondering why NY was listed twice. lol
