I’ve just read chapter 2 too, debating if I should post screenshots of all the scenes I liked or not, might be too many x) can’t get enough of when 奈々 is with ナナ. Actually 奈々 with 淳 was pretty funny too. (can you tell that 奈々 is my favorite)

奈々 and ナナ / Chapter 2
I’ve been thinking at why 奈々 and ナナ’s relationship feels so special, and right from the start too. With her friends, and even boyfriend, every time 奈々 tells how sad she feels about something, she immediately get scolded / screamed at and be told to grow up / learn to better take care of her self.
But if it’s with ナナ, it’s like the world stops, and ナナ is fully listening. and then even goes into warrior mode to protect 奈々.
Like here in chapter 2
I find it so moving to see such a very deep and strong connection!

I also think that 奈々‘s other friends don’t give her much credit for anything. I mean she did spend a year (alone!) back home getting together the money to go to Tokyo. She wasn’t expecting to stay with 章司 when she arrived - in fact she had been hoping to stay with 淳子who (amazingly) never mentioned to 奈々 once over the course of a year that 京助had moved in with her! And after a day of playing domestic goddess, she does goes house hunting and finds an appropriate set-up on her second day.

We didn’t have electricity all day over here so I got to read a lot!
Very fun chapter. I like the 4th-wall breaking jokes. That feels a bit ahead of its time frankly, that’s very 2010.
It’s funny to see 奈々’s friend freak out because she has a roommate she doesn’t know well. With the real estate crisis, it has become completely normalized now. Although maybe still not in Japan?
I struggled a bit to understand the discussion 淳子 had with 京助 regarding 障子: he wants to drop out of the uni he got into せっかく in order to get a job and marry 奈々?
In particular what’s that talk of 二浪? I thought he only waited one year to pass the exam?

That discussion was so dense! I branched out a bit at times and need a re-read, then maybe I can reply. Unfortunately we have electricity here so today I have to go to work

That was the one page that I really struggled with. I ended up doing a Google Lens search on the page to find the English translation of it.
According to the translation
He’s really happy he got into art school, but he realizes that even if he graduates he might not get a job doing anything related to that. So he was wondering if it would be better just to search for a job now because it will be a long time before he can properly support 奈々, as he intends to marry her. But like, really? bc I agree, I don’t see a lot that their relationship has ahead of it where they are right now…
I also was confused about that because I thought the same thing. I’m guessing the year before the 3 went to Tokyo and left 奈々 for the year counted as his first year? (But they were in school, right?) Anyway that also confused me.

This was one of my favorite parts of the chapter. He just kept taking blow after blow 
The humor in Yazawa’s writing is so, so funny to me.
This is such a good analysis of their dynamic! They both are deeply romantic people, though that manifests in different ways, and I think they see and admire that in each other. In Nana O’s case, it allows her to open up and show her latent soft side. In Nana K’s case, it allows her to (for once) feel validated in her intense emotions and desire for love. So good!

I am confused by this page too. Especially the 二浪 part and also the ４大. I’ll have to ask my parents to take a picture for me of the translated version that we have back home (it will have to wait for next week though, they are not home right now)

YES!! Can finally call 奈々 by her real name, ハチ/ハチ公 
was feeling weird calling her Nana all that time.
For those who don’t know the reference: 忠犬ハチ公 - Wikipedia

Also I love how Nana (ナナ) wasn’t going to comment on Trapnest when Hachi went to buy their CD, but when Hachi was talking about how cool Takumi and Naoki were, she couldn’t help herseft, “wait, what about that other guy, you don’t think he’s cool too??”

Lucky! I was at work, and since the trains were not running and I had left my car at the train station, it took me 4 hours to get home 
Chapter 3
I really enjoyed the dynamic between the two Nanas (now officially Nana and Hachi, with the ears and wagging tail) in this chapter. Poor Shouji, left in the middle of the street because Nana’s priority is to take the hot hamburguer back home

Oh my gosh I haven’t started this chapter yet, but I am so relieved to know that this time has finally come!!
I’ve been keeping up with the reading, but haven’t taken the time to post my comments/questions here in a bit. I had some grammar points I was struggling with in the last chapter, so I may post those together w/ my chapter 3 thoughts hopefully in the next few days!

Alright got the translated version (thanks mom!).
Can’t know for sure that it’s been translated correctly, but here is what they say in the French version:
So they are not saying that he is a 二浪, but he is the same age as them, seeing as he did a special school after high school + the 一浪 .
Then they say that there are a lot of people who miss their exams twice in their school, so if Shouji is a student for 4 years he won’t be able to support Nana for a while. So maybe he should just quit now and try to get a real job.
