So today was the 70th day of me being on wanikani. So far it was very easy, and I already knew a lot of the vocab and kanji presented by now because of me being exposed to japanese a lot these past few years before starting wanikani, but even then the amount of vocabulary and kanji that wanikani taught me in just 9 levels is insane. Actually im a little insecure about my results in 70 days, because 70 days is quite a lot of time and I have only just reached level 9, especially given that it was a lot easier for me due to already knowing about 20-30%(numbers from air idk the actual percentage lol) of what wanikani had until level 9. I dont actually know how much time does it usually take so I can’t compare myself to anything and that’s probably the main reason im kind of insecure. That aside using wanikani has been a blast so far and im looking forward to the upcoming levels
The only person you should compare yourself to is yourself. We all work at our own levels, some of us faster than others. But our speed doesn’t matter. What matters is whether we study at a speed that works for us. It’s personal to each of us. So find what works for you.
Beautifully put!
Purrecisely!
Also, for anyone who feels they are going too slow, remember that for me it took 8 years to reach level 60 – with multiple burnouts, inactive periods and resets!
Yet here I am – reading my favorite manga and playing great games in Japanese! And that’s what’s impurrtant! ![]()
Being slow is ok.
Falling is ok.
The impurrtant thing is to always get up again, as Eisen has pointed out:
