It finally works aaaaaah
I’m not sure if downloading this version helped or if ChristopherFritz’s command did, because I forgot to enable the “Allow access to file URLs” option and only turned it on after I installed Python 3.9.13 ahaha.

Oh yeah it probably worked before then, sorry I didn’t think about that with your previous comment!
oh no that’s totally alright! This is the second time I’m missing this point, I should’ve remembered
Haha not really, even us who do it as a job wouldn’t have remembered. Can’t expect to remember everything you do only once in a while. The trick is to have good installation guidelines and rely on them instead of memory!
I am reaaally trying to use mokuro, I have been a few hours by now just trying to DeDMR kindle ebooks, seen a lot of tutorials and articles but just can’t. It’s a bummer because I know some other people are reading with mokuro and says it’s so much easier to read that way… Any help or recommendations with that?
There’s only so much that can be said on the forums on the de-drm process for something you paid for and are not sharing, but a couple of questions: 1) have you tried using Calibre, and 2) what operating system are you on?
yeap, using calibre, I tried with latest version, older versions, latest version again. I have windows 10
I actually never got Calibre working myself. (I use an application that has a one-time cost, which has gone down in price since I bought a license many years ago.)
If you search Reddit for 2024 Guide to DeDRM Kindle books, does that help out? Or is that one of the guides you have already tried?
Oh, so you are using somethig else.
Yes, I already checked up on that one
I’m personally running calibre, and it works, even through their command line application. And I have used it both on windows and linux for this purpose. Haven’t done it in a while, but I’d assume it would still work?
I have used the same tools but not on Kindle ebooks unfortunately. Also I use Mokuro for manga and not for novels
I ended up buying a REALLY old Paperwhite and now I can download the azw files straight from Amazon. Worth looking into!
A website, whose (very basic) URL is based on what you’re trying to do, might help…
(Though I’m using Calibre, and it definitely works… as long as you have an actual, physical kindle registered in your account).
Thank you, I’m sure it works, I’m just not sure why is not working when I do it. I’ll look up to that. It’s good to know though that other people with the same things are being able to do it, i do have a physical kindle so i hope that would help me
An actual physical Kindle isn’t really a requirement, it’s just quicker, since that way you can download the books from Amazon as is. Otherwise you need to use their desktop app and get the files from there. I used to do it like that, it’s annoying, but it works.
I might be wrong, but I think you no longer can do that in the newer kindle software versions; but if OP is having problem with Calibre itself, the people who made those tools have also thought of people who can’t access Calibre, or even a regular computer and made a website for that particular purpose
Okay, I have the file now I am trying to run mokuro, I already installed it, so now I am entering the file route, what kind of file should it be? I have it on AZW3 and PDF and is not working, this is the output of the pdf file
It accepts a folder of image files. Open the azw with Calibre, right click it and select ‘edit book’ (or something similar) and that will allow you to right click all the images and export them.
EDIT: I am assuming you have DeDRM installed in Calibre. Otherwise you won’t be able to load the azw into Calibre. You can enter the serial of your physical Kindle into the plugin settings and it’ll remove the DRM.
You can also use calibre to convert as Zip file (also after DeDRM’ing), and open the zip.
I didn’t know about that. That’s neat !
And I didn’t know about this
