I was wondering if someone could help me understand this sentence.
おれは、あんたに命を救ってもらった
I guess it’s mean “I saved your life.”
The part that bugs me is the もらう. Isn’t it suppose to be used went you receive something? Or does he mean I made you the honor of saving your life?
Thanks for your help.
てもらう can be used when you get someone to do something for you, or had someone do something for you and the に here indicates who did it for you. So this is more like “You saved my life”.
Thanks it’s making a lot more sense now.
