Hi guys
This might have been raised before but I couldn’t find it.
How come WaniKani doesn’t have a feature where you listen to the audio (of Vocabulary) and have to type meaning and reading?
They already have audio for all vocab items, so can’t be that hard to implement? Plus it will be super helpful for comprehension/retention and for going out into the wild.
Again apologies if I’m repeating others or assuming that implementing new feature is easy!
Because it is primarily a kanji learning app.
That’s not a bad idea though.
WaniKani very much “does what it says on the tin”.
It is a kanji application, and you can’t really ‘listen’ to kanji (at least, you know what I mean). The WK team tries to make it do this as well as possible.
They’ve left the community to add all of the bells and whistles and fancy features, providing great support with the API tickets and userscript extensions.
I would recommend request/creating a userscript if you want this capability. 
I understand, and would agree with you but they’ve added vocabulary because it’s useful in learning the kanji as you say. Learning is not exclusively reading is it?
Anyway it was just a thought/question/suggestion.
True - that’s why you are encouraged to go out and explore other learning resources to cover the other skills. WaniKani, as others mentioned, is about learning kanji, and the vocab is only there to reinforce that learning. Given the nature of kanji, this means reading and nothing else.

Apologies, does lecturing have negative connotations for you?

Yes, it has a similar meaning to scolding when not used in a classroom lecture context.
Whether you truly don’t understand the connotations of “lecture” aside, the previous posts had given suggestions such as requesting a userscript yourself or simply finding a different premade resource that would fit your need of practicing listening skills.
