Hello beautiful friends,
I forgot to update, but I burned everything in December, minus the new set of lesson we got recently.
さすが whinette 先輩 。お疲れ様でした
Ok here we go. I’m going full AJATT to finally get fluent in this language. And I’m going to go gold on WK ASAP.
Level 15.
Ran into a roadblock immersing - real life stuff. But progress continues. It’s funny, after several days listening extensively, I found my capacity to parse spoken Japanese improve fairly rapidly - almost like newbie gains.
Level 16. Sitting at work writing documents with Japanese playing on my phone.
Keep it up. I got to the top of the skytree 5 years ago but recently went back down to the fortieth stair case to start going again. Its nice to see this thread is still alive and well.
I took a similar path when I rode my bike around Japan in 2016 (I got burned out from my IT job and Japans work culture as I was at a black kigyou). Its a great route! I have a bunch of friends in Yawatahama because I got real tired before making it to the ferry and just laid down on the pavement for awhile. Nishinomiya-san saw me and insisted i come to his house and he showed me all around Yawatahama and took me to the ferry in the morning.
Great memories.
I agree with your rankings in general. I liked Beppu alright but mid-tier is about right. The peninsula and kunosaki area are better in my opinion. Saiko is …saikou too. =P Ive run a couple marathons out that way.
I like Fukuoka prefecture but im meh about Fukuoka city myself.
Hiroshima is.. yeah. I agree.
As for Kyouto I actually think the parts that aren’t Kyouto city are really nice. Kurama, Yamashina, Maizuru, kyotango.
Shikoku and Kyuushuu are my happy places in Japan though. The people are so nice and friendly. The brand of Japanese is slower and annunciated better than other locations. Shikoku especially has a welcoming atmosphere for strangers due to the culture built up because of the 四国八十八か所.
I just love it.
To be fair I think I am to hard on Kyoto, I haven’t allocated enough time to it and I was suffering of 3 weeks of intense heat at this point of time.
I completely agree yeah, really loved Kyushu & Shikoku.
But next trip will be North of Japan! Ideally visiting north part of Honshu (I’d really like to allocate time to Niigata & Aomori but it will really be budget dependant).
