How is it going everyone?
60 days later, I’m still doing review and some vocab lessons.
Did not transition to another resource, yet. I’m reading a bit more though.

Yooo whinette san. I am doing great, how about you. I switched to bunpro and am still doing it there, but it is tough :eyes:. I also noticed some of the members who used to be in skytree Thread are there as well.

Congrats on reaching level 60.

Also, kyokajiro, how is your progress going.

Sorry for the late response. I still regularlyish check here, but since i wasn’t mentioned, i didn’t get notified.
Edit: welcome back @old_friend

Hope things are going better. I feel the same about just not being able to learn at this point three years later. lol. THan I found out that not only do dyslexics have difficulty with writing in their language, they have a general difficulty in learning all languages outside their language. So, fun!

Still going up this up hill battle.

EDIT: I should probably mention I reset to 41 from 60. AT least I have wanikani for life at the cheaper level 60 price =P

Welcome back professor. Good question of course I improved a bit but it’s still frustrating that I am not good enough to pass the the jlpt n1 yet. Every time I do a mock test the reading part doesn’t feel that hard but I always get only a few points. It seems the better I get at japanese the worse I do at reading parts of jlpt mock tests.

I know how it feels being bad at language learning I was always bad at it. It’s a miracle that I somehow managed to learn english. Hang in there you can do it ragardless how steep the mountain is we can all reach the top.

Weird to look back on this. I joined this thread in 2021 at level 21, I did many small level resets, but finally made it to 50 at the beginning of 2022 or so before taking a break for a year. Wasn’t until 2024 that I finally made it to level 60 and took a trip to Japan. Never climbed the real Tokyo Skytree, yet. That will have to be saved for next trip.

I spent one month in Japan doing this:

To finish the trip, I book a rakuten room near Asaku. When I arrived, have a look at what I saw:

Wooooooow…

Give us some more details on the trip… Pretty please. It looks like a hell of a tour :eyes:. Never been in shikkoku nor kyuushu before :face_holding_back_tears: Did you visit saga? :woman_zombie::zombie: We’ll love to hear about those zones of japan (far from the capital).

I’d like to say I’ve being doing great but let’s say, so so.
Yes for the Skytree! Everytimes I think about the great memories I made within this thread.

The trip was good, most of the time I was the only one speaking a bit of Japanese, and being outside of Tokyo for once finally made me speak with the locals.

It is something you can only do if you’re confortable with renting a car (and drive on the opposite side of the road, if you’re like me). Not having to care the luggages and your night location is really a plus, and it doesn’t cost that much more than the train (except if you’re limiting yourself to JR pass of course).

I’m a hardcore fan of 東方Project and it was really a surprise ot be able to find relationship with the places I visited and this game series (the most peculiar one was 松江). We did not planed the trip much. And it was still good (I prefer it that way).

A big issue was the weather, the first two weeks were hell. 40°Cm 80%+ humidity… Most of outside activities were really hard to do, and I can only do so many museum in the same trip. :')

For example Miyajima, we spent most of the day chilling on the benches west of the Tori…

We weren’t able to visit Saga due to time constrains. If I had to replan this trip, I would allocate more time to Matsue, Kyushu & Shikoku, and less to everything else.

Top tier:

  • Tottori
  • Matsue
  • Kumamoto
  • Mount Aso
  • Shikoku in general
  • Osaka
  • The superbs sunset I was able to catch
  • Kyoto Railway Museum

Mid tier:

  • Hiroshima
  • Miyajima
  • Fukuoka
  • Tokyo
  • Beppu

Low tier:

  • Kyoto
