Your bets, how long would it take to cope with these piles?

During all of my 10-years-long work experience, I happened to get all of my jobs via acquaintances. So last week became quite notable. Never thought first time I would write an actual curriculum vitae would be in Japanese.

The 30s are going slowly for me this month it seems. Moving house in around four weeks so my time right now is better spent sorting that out. Keeping up with reviews though, and trying to get 5 lessons in a day even if I can’t manage my usual 15! So I’m certainly not stalling. Doing a little Tobira work here and there and I’m noticing the improvement in my reading ability as I go through the content which is very rewarding.

Glad to see everyone still climbing, and well done to everyone who’s levelled up recently!

58 let’s goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I reached level 10!!! YaAAAAYYyyy, finally in the double digit club!!!
Important question thou…
How is everyone going so faaast? Like I needed 23 days for level 9. I have an average level up of 14 days. I see people rushing through the levels in 6 to 10 days. I can barely keep up with around 100 to 150 reviews a day. How many reviews are you guys usually doing every day? Do you do something else besides studying japanese? (I have university stuff to take care off)

Massive respect everyone, I might not reach level 60 by the end date but I will try to reach as high as possible. Good luck everyone <3

Some have too much free time, some already have japanese background and some don’t mind 200+ reviews a day. I am not one of the those aliens people. Your pace is kinda better than mine ngl
Cough

Dedication !
I work about 50h/week, and have between 280-330 reviews each day.

oooh! anybody checked the top of the ranking recently?

@hasturman congratulations on reaching the top! i hope the cake is worth it!

how long have you been doing wanikani?

Thats crazy, massive respect

Yes! @hasturman posted in the other climbing thread about it

oops! i even saw that  i am so bad at remembering people…

Year and half or since november 2019
P.s: 3000th post

i’ve been a day off these past few levels because the lessons are getting out of hand. i’m hoping that the next level is different though, because in a few days i’ll have completed a whole third of wk!

Reached level 36 today! Sundays are always hectic since I have to get up at around 7AM for reviews + lessons around 8:30AM, and I went to sleep late yesterday due to meeting up with friends.

I also took up playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX in Japanese. The game itself is very understandable, but due to its RPG roots it tends to overwhelm you with a LOT of tutorial text boxes in the first few hours. Mostly done with the early game, so this shouldn’t be much of a problem anymore.

Imagine this…

It’s the last set of reviews that you need to do for the Kanji in your current level so that you can progress. Out of the 35 kanji, you managed to get 31/34 correct so far. Not bad. Reviewing the current level Kanji in your own spare time for about 2 hours by writing them on a piece of paper, using Bishbashonce and just scrutinising them, has allowed you to do the reviews at a rapid pace, albeit with a few minor inaccuracies that WaniKani has accepted as answers.

You just need to get the next Kanji correct in order to progress.

You encounter 呂 (ろ)… Oh, that’s easy!

‘Bathtub it is!’ you unsubconsciously think to yourself, as you input the word ‘bathtub’ as the meaning of the kanji. After all, the radical does carry the meaning ‘bathtub’. At that instant moment, after pressing the Enter button in the brief assumption that you got it correct, your eyes widen in horror as you see a red horizontal bar flashing across your screen.

Bathtub? WRONG. The kanji means Bath. Sorry, you’ll have to wait another 3 days before you can level up! And because of this, all possibilities of you getting to Level 60 before heading for Military Conscription (which has been pushed forward to June 15) are now gone!

Yes, this was what just happened to me. Sigh…

If you were on that tight schedule, maybe use a script that permit do over.

I have the Ignore Answer script. I double pressed enter too quickly though, and by the time I realised, I was already on the Kanji reading and couldn’t ractify my Kanji meaning mistake.

That sucks then. But 60 is not the end of your japanese learning, and it will be another reason to come back there when you can!

Yep! Level 60 is just an arbitary milestone after all, there’s about 200 more N1 Kanji not taught in WK :joy:

That’s life!

I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve double entered too quickly before being able to hit ignore answer…
