Huh, yeah, I didn’t look at the list as just wrong answers for the above mentioned reason. I will definitely add that when I come back to this next, along with custom sorting.
Ask and ye shall receive. I’ve updated the script to display total number of wrong answers, and as a hidden feature, if you click the header above the number, it will sort the list in descending order of wrong answer count. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see added.
EDIT: Aaaand added some color!
It’s just spinning.
Yeah, that’ll happen because WK API tends to be slow. Just refresh and try again a few times.
I’ve already tried four times, waiting over a minute each time. The first try on the original version took less than 10 seconds.
It displays for me, but my results changed dramatically, even though I only did a few reviews in the meantime, and none of the things that were listed at the top were things I reviewed.
If you are using chrome, would you mind hitting F12, clicking on the “Console” tab and letting me know if it says anything?
EDIT: Nevermind! Found the problem and fixed it. Have at it now!
I mean… nothing about the algorithm changed. Maybe the algorithm is just bad, try sorting by “Wrong” and see if that helps.
Are you sure something didn’t change that is causing things to not get fully displayed? It looks like I just have fewer results, not that any individual item changed. My top item before was the kanji 番 with a score of 4.0. Now it doesn’t show in the results at all and my top item is 潔い with a score of 2.0.
Oh sorry, yeah, I reduced the number of items from 100 to 50, just 'cause 100 felt excessive. I really just need to change it so you can load as many as you want.
As for changes in top items, make sure that you are sorting on the score column, and make sure that Vocabulary actually loaded, because a lot of time that request takes so long it just times out and dies and you only get Kanji. I don’t know, did you try refreshing?
EDIT: Whooops! I accidentally left in the restriction that I use for debugging that limits the results to level 28 (arbitrarily) because those huge load times are so annoying! Sorry, anyway, fixed now!
Yeah, that was it, it seems. It’s back to what it was before.
@StellaTerra It works now, thanks. Though you do have a small bug with your sorting not being deterministic. If you click a header multiple times, various entries will change places so long as they are tied in the column you sorted by.
Saw that. The only items that change place are the one’s whose primary and secondary sort values are both the same, so the truth is that either could be in either position. I suppose I could just throw in a tertiary column for all of them and have a final fallback of sorting alphabetically… Yeah, that seems reasonable. Thanks for the feedback. <3
This is great! Can you also add a column in the beginning to show the order? Not too important, but it would be nice to see the #1-10, etc…
And for shame, here’s my top 10, oh the horrors, I have a 7! I kept writing kazu like the toy instrument instead of kazo. It’s like I made that my own mnemonic, I see that now, it’s wrong!
数える R 3 7 7.0
人数 R 4 6 3.0
辺り R 3 3 3.0
相手 R 3 3 3.0
部屋 R 3 3 3.0

My goal is to instantly be accurate with all of WaniKani, so I’ve started to use KaniWani, which is helping so much. Also using Self Study Quiz Edition the first few days I get new terms, now everything is sooo much better. As I improve, will my list change?
@StellaTerra, thank you for sharing this tool. I am comparing this list with the WaniKani 2 Anki Exporter critical download. Your list seems to pinpoint the most troublesome items for me. My scores ranged from 10.0 to 2.8
Thank you for sharing, it’s a great help !
I was struggling (returning form vacation mode during 3 months), and it has been difficult to pinpoint the ‘specially’ difficult words. Now, I’m remotivated
That explains why I only get Kanji out… I have probably over 50 leech kanji. I’m a bit afraid of what this would look like unrestricted. I bet I have many hundreds at this point. As much as I’m regressing and as many leeches as I have, I’m considering a level reset. It is really out of control to the point where I can’t move up levels at all since it is the same 500 things coming up again and again and I seem to lack the ability to get it under control at this point. Unfortunately I really let things get out of hand. This should serve as a warning to those at lower levels!
What I might do is reset back to level 15-20 and re-run the script to see how many leeches I have. Once I do that I want to resurrect kanji by level and try to run through the lower level ones as quickly as possible. I’ve already resurrected up through level 7 or so and that has served me well! I do have problems with retention as well and resurrecting has helped immensely with that!
I think the script has potential to serve as a tool in answering the question, “should I level reset or not? If so, to what level?” This is something I’ve grappled with recently.
Interesting…
Note that if you are only seeing kanji, it’s likely that the vocab request simply timed out. I recommend reloading and trying again. If you still don’t get any I can walk you through pulling up the console and checking to make sure it’s actually all kanji.
I think it is due to being limited to 50 items and Kanji make the cut first.
