JLPT vs Regular studies

What is the difference between preparing for the JLPT test and just study for other purposes? Because I was looking for a way to increase vocabulary and a lot of times you hear listening and reading, but I don’t really understand any of that, I do have finished N5 level material through a five-month class.

Currently using:

  • Bunpo for grammar.
  • WaniKani for vocab, kanji.

When you prepare for JLPT you learn e.g. techniques to answer the listening part. How you efficiently extract information from the audio recording to answer the question correctly. Also, since JLPT doesn’t test speaking or writing (composition), you don’t have to learn those.
