I would understand smartwatches but really oldschool retro ones?
This is pretty much what I ordered. How would you be able to use that to cheat?
I would understand smartwatches but really oldschool retro ones?
my understanding was any digital watch with memory in it (ie to store cheat notes etc); so old school ones should be fine.
Yeah, I saw some with a whole touchpad attached for calculator stuff which is crazy!
The US rulebook does include in its list of forbidden items on page V “digital watch” without qualification. I guess they’re being broad because they don’t want to get into investigating whether something is an old school “just a watch” digital watch or something smarter with retro styling or whatever.
That is only in the US specific front matter, though – the global docs instead specify an absurdly short list of what you may bring:
You may only bring the Test Voucher, writing utensils(medium-soft <No.2 or HB> blacklead
pencils and a plastic eraser)and photo identification
that if taken literally would forbid you from bringing your wallet with you…
Interestingly this appears to be a mistranslation, since the equivalent Japanese sentence is
試験当日は、受験票、筆記用具(黒の鉛筆〈No.2かHB〉、プラスチック消しゴム)および写真入りの
身分証明書(パスポート、運転免許証、試験実施機関が指定した身分証明書等)を持参してください。
and has no のみ or other indication of “only” in it.
So I guess (if you’re not in the US) ask your local test centre organisation for clarification if necessary.
The issue some proctors may have with this model is that it has alarm functionality. And if it’s the kind that beeps every time you press a button, that could get you a yellow-card warning (for making noise, disturbing neighbors, signaling to nearby conspirators in morse code, etc).
Going to be location, room, proctor-dependent. But why risk it, you know?
That is an absolutely valid concern and is the reason I ordered three different models to test them haha
I wouldn’t like to have a beeping watch anyway.
Some of them make a little beep on the hour without any way to turn it off. My Baby G used to do it.
If worse comes to worse, stop by a Daiso and pick up a cheap analog wristwatch
During a break?
I will only know if they accept my watch when I get there xD
pick it up a few days before
So i got the watches today and I must say I am a bit disappointed even though I did not expect much.
The first one in the image looks nice on the picture but is barely readable in real life even if you turn the lights on.
The second one is kinda as expected, very simple very cheapish wristband but works fine. I set the alarm and turned off the hourly chime.
The last one is actually really nice but it sucks so hard that the wristband is just too fucking loose and not adjustable! I am not sure it’s replaceable …
It has the most features and is pretty readable
I am wearing the second watch right now after adjusting the wristband. Playing around with the alarm and the chimes right now.
Hi everyone,
I cannot find this information anywhere. I passed the N2 last December, and they told that the results would be available in February. However, I remember that last year the results were available around the 22nd of January. Is that posssible?
In Japan, results are sent out in February but are available on-line earlier.
It seems dates vary per country - there are some details here:
oh thanks, so I’m not crazy.
I found weird that there isn’t a official notice when the results are available online. Last year, I think I found out lurking in a thread here.
You can watch this website: Test Results Announcement | JLPT Japanese-Language Proficiency Test and they will show the dates at some point. From experience, I think the results should be online in late January.
From January 22nd, 2024 re: December 2023 JLPT test results -
I see, so there is an update on the JLPT website when the results will be available in late January. Thanks everyone.
The test center Düsseldorf in Germany will upload its application forms for the July 2025 test between mid to end of January.
