I did 2 N5 mock exams from Migii, all past.
Need improvement on grammar.
Reading is slow, but good enough
Listening is even worse, but still good enough.
BunProSRS really helped me with my grammar, and it’s getting better now.

I’m getting worried because I haven’t had time to focus on Japanese and I won’t for at least two more weeks. I have a couple of school exams coming up and the last ends only 12 days before the JLPT ![]()
My grammar is lacking (only three chapters through Tobira and I’m going for N3
) and reading is probably my best skill as of now. I’ll have to do a mock exam after my school exams are finished.
Where are you sitting the exam?
Edit and to answer questions above - I think there’s a fair chance I’ll fail, but I’m planning to do a practice exam or two soon. I’ve done very little study specifically for the exam, but quite a bit of reading, and I’ve worked through almost all of Bunpro N3, plus Kitsun vocab. I’m driving quite a long road trip over the next few days so I’m also listening to the American Life podcast.
In Brisbane! How about you?
Sydney! I asked as I vaguely remembered you lived in Australia.
Thanks! I’ll try the Bootcamp one.
I mostly wanna see if my speed improved or not, cause last time I did a mock test I ended up taking 5 minutes or so more than what’s allowed, but my score itself was fine.
I’m going to be taking the N2 in Dublin in December. Anyone else in the same location?
Just popping by to complain about the N2 reading section
Wow wow wow that’s a massive section right??
Wait til you see N1
But yeah, I think the reading section is the biggest leap between N3 and N2. It used to be even more of a leap between 3 and 2 in the old 4-level test…
And wait till you see a book meant for adults!!
Yeah, but there’s no time limit on those unless you’re borrowing them from the library…
Yup, it’s a massive jump. When I take the N2 again or N1 next year I will very likely start with that section.
Especially if it’s one translated from English, relying on very English-centric terms
. But yeah, adult books scare me as well.
I’m taking N4 in Dublin. ![]()
Nice! Have you taken the JLPT here before at all? I’m from Scotland and my only experience is with the N3 in Valencia, Spain. I’ve heard that the experiemce in different venues can be somewhat varied.
Oh hey I just realized there are two December JLPT threads right now ![]()
Anyways, if you happen to sit N2 in Düsseldorf next month and if you want to say hi to some fellow test-takers, please feel free to tick the poll if you haven’t already:
Who ever started the December jlpt 2022 i’m sorry i didn’t know someone did it …but i don’t think it matters that much. Also with two weeks left good luck everyone still though !
Good luck everyone. Sitting the test in Chicago this year.
Is it possible to make notes / write / doodle on any / all of the question booklets?
Thanks in advance.
As far as I know you can doodle as much als you want on the question sheets. But I wouldn’t doodle on the answer sheet. It’s computer based evaluation and i wouldn’t want to throw it off…
Great, that would be super useful if you can take notes during the listening part in particular ![]()
