JLPT 2022 thread(Results out now!)

Speaking of which, registration for the JLPT organised by Inalco in Paris opens tomorrow (1 March). It seems that the registration (“INSCRIPTION”) button will appear at 12 noon Paris time (GMT+1) on this page:
http://www.inalco.fr/formations/formation-continue/certification-preparation-tests/jlpt-japanese-language-proficiency

It will be above the ‘Contact’ section in the right sidebar. This is for the pre-registration. (It seems like this page is only available in French for the moment, so watch out for that.)

Thereafter, an application to take the test will have to be filled out. (I guess it’s called an ‘application’ because not everyone will get to take the test if they run out of places. The limit last year was 500 candidates. I haven’t seen one for this year.) Here’s a link to the English version of the guide:

The final application file will have to include

  1. A hard copy of the confirmation email for successful pre-registration (literally ‘recording of the pre-registration’)
  2. A hard copy of the confirmation email for online payment via PayboxMail (the link for payment will be sent 1-3 days after one pre-registers)
  3. A C4 format enveloppe (‘corresponds to the 32 x 23 cm A4 format – I’d say check with Google to be sure’) already furnished with stamps for 2.50€ of postage, ready to be sent, labelled with the name and address of the candidate in order to receive the results

The application file absolutely must reach the Inalco reception or office by Thursday, 31 March 2022 at 5pm at the latest. The address is

Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales
Coordination du JLPT- bureau 3.20 / Service Commun de la Formation Continue
65 rue des Grands Moulins
75013 PARIS

Incomplete or late application files automatically cancel one’s registration. Also, the test is strictly non-refundable except if Covid-related restrictions make taking it impossible (i.e. people aren’t allowed to gather for the test, or a candidate is infected by Covid during the test period and can prove it).

There we go. I guess most people taking it in Paris are French speakers, but I figured I’d translate the general instructions just in case.

If anyone needs special testing accommodations, requests will have to be submitted by 14 March.

Unfortunately, the test guide provided in English doesn’t explain the process of registration at Inalco…
However, for non French speaker, don’t worry too much as it’s not that complicated. Also, Jonapedia made a good and complete explanation. I just want to add that for December 2021 test, I was also asked my bank account info for refund in case of cancellation.

Oh, OK. I haven’t looked through the French guide yet, so I didn’t know.

Oh yeah, I think they did mention that on the page as well. Thanks for bringing it up!

Has someone already been able to sign up for the JLPT in Leiden?

I’m not seeing any option to register, but mostly the site is down at the moment.

Nope, although I just tried for the first time today. Completely forgot about it, damn…
EDIT: Site is indeed really slow.

What on earth does this mean lol. My application was accepted, but I didn’t pay yet, and neither got any confirmation about registration.
Edit: this is the screen I got after submitting the registration. Personal info and was not captured in the screenshot for obvious reasons.

Same here. I wonder if they’re waiting for the 150 cap to be reached before moving to the payment stage, seeing as there’s no option to do anything after reaching this screen.

In case anyone who doesn’t speak Dutch is trying to register: “Volgnummer” means “serial/sequence number”; “betaling is niet gedefinieerd” means “payment is not defined” (got to appreciate the mix of languages), which is wonderfully vague.

I’m at the same screen, wondering whether I should wait for a confirmation mail or just go to sleep

Haha, me too. I have to get up at 6 as well. Super annoying.

I even got an e-mail with subject ‘Registration (almost) complete’. The ‘almost’ worries me, but there’s no hint of any follow up action required or even possible.

Edit: Just sent an e-mail to the FAQ mail address on the site, let’s see what happens tomorrow…

Same. It’s been a very confusing procedure.

After three months of studying in Japan I feel pretty confident that I can easily pass N5, so I’m taking the challenge and am going to go for N4 this summer.

I’m planning to take the N3 here in Japan by July, and possibly the N2 in December depending on how I go with N3. Right now I know 90% of the kanji/vocab but I need to study up on grammar, so I’m cramming hard until July.

Did everyone else who tried to sign up for the Leiden JLPT also get an email like this? Bit worried about the fact that I still haven’t heard anything from them… :grimacing:

It was in my spam folder from a weird e-mail address.

The website of JLPT leiden has been updated stating that the maximum number of participants has been reached. I still got no email from them stating whether or not I was one of the first 150 to apply.

EDIT: I applied 00:29

I missed N2 by 5 points on the reading section in Dec. That time pressure is nuts.
I didn’t really do any specific exam technique prep, will do next time (I think it becomes very important at N2)
I started work today, so I can’t do the 15-20+ hours a week I have been, but I’m trying to keep up with a few hours on weekends and get through the Shinkanzen master grammar book, then work on reading to strict time.
