Jisho Quickfire - a running history dictionary that uses Jisho.org

I would try this one http://stackoverflow.com/a/17203692/2675087
I saw the same answer on a github ticket for node.

sheodox said... Hmm, try this. Uninstall NodeJS and install this version:
http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.10.38/node-v0.10.38.pkg

I'm wondering if it might be some incompatibility between version 0.12.x and one of the packages I'm using to scrape the jisho site. I've had troubles with incompatibilities with newer versions on other projects before.
I was wondering why other's were having issues, didn't think about this. I was still using the v0.10.x nodejs, and I had no problems. I am on Windows 8.1 though.
Yeah, same here haha. I'm still running 0.10.33 on my desktop (also Win 8.1), 0.10.29 on my Raspberry Pi (which is what's hosting it on my network currently) and something similar to that (whatever's the newest version in Ubuntu's apt) on my local server that I'm using for other projects.

That did it for me!

Awesome! Happy searching! :D And thanks for your patience.

You hear that Shotgun? All you need to do is run one of those disgusting uninstall commands then install an older version of node. http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.10.38/node-v0.10.38.pkg

I'll update the OP.

Thanks for the killer support! I’m loving it already.

Nice app, OP! I’m eager to keep using it and even collaborating to its further development

My two cents so far: I forked the github project (my first fork ever) and did a Node-Webkit version, so you can distribute your NodeJS app as a standalone desktop app and people don’t need to install node or open the Terminal :3 I already tested the desktop Mac app and works fine

This is the fork: https://github.com/lalider/jisho-quickfire

… But, as I’m on a shitty internet connection right now, I can’t upload the desktop apps for everybody to download yet :frowning: sheodox, it’d be nice if you try to build it yourself and upload the executables somewhere. I haven’t tested that my instructions work well yet, but I gotta leave now. Good luck and enjoy! I hope it works and it’s useful

I've considered making a new version with node-webkit, I'll probably look into it eventually! Might not get to it today, but it is something I've wanted to do. I'll take a look at your repo when I have more time! :D

Here is the link to a desktop version of the app for Mac, ready to use!
