So, here’s the song that Yotsuba’s singing on page 14: [もういくつねると] Can’t find the specific model of phone Miura is referring to, but au is a real phone manufacturer in Japan. Kind of interesting that the model number is “zed eks” rather than the Americanian “zee”. Chiyo-chan’s dad putting in another cameo there.

I was in the middle of reading the chapter in preparation for your post when you actually posted the post. I’d just hit page 120 and went to research the song when I happened to glance back here and saw it. Next “Why is it so?” moment: bottom of page 121, どちらにしようかな is the Japanese version of “eeny meeny miny mo”. And here it is as a song. [どれにしようかな？ | こどものうた | Super Simple 日本語]

Oh yeah. I’ve been sitting here all day trying to remember what it is that usually happens on Mondays. “Aria? No, that’s Saturdays. Hmm…” At long last, Yotsuba finally gets to visit the ranch. Shame about Yanda. Can someone explain Yanda’s goroawase on page 165? I don’t get it.

This is why we keep paint out of reach of kids. Still, I’m fairly impressed with her logic, here - Page 41, I assume とんな is some sort of negative imperative of 解く, but what on earth kind of slang is that? This might be what Yotsuba is singing on page 53, but I’m not hugely confident of that: [♪ うみ (うみはひろいな おおきいな)]

I know this question is months old, but I just finished reading vol. 1 and this thread, and I loved both. Almost every question I had was answered here.
