Hey folks, do you think I could play Dream Team Bros in Japanese if I use an emulator?
So long as the ROM is in Japanese, yeah. 3DS emulation isn’t all that wild these days.
I need a ROM?
Ok, I think I have to research how emulation works lol
But nice to hear that there is a way to play it in Japanese ![]()
Sharing pictures will probably be easier as well if I use emulation ![]()
My response got long, so behind a cut
You could try Suruga-ya–they have free shipping promos roughly once a week. (FYI the game appears to be called Mario&LuigiRPG4: Dream Adventure in JP). They accept (and I think prefer) Paypal as well. The only thing would be what Austria’s rules are for import costs. Here in America we’ve got a 800 USD (per purchase/in a rolling 30 days I think) personal exemption, but I think Europe tends to be stricter. Also if your parents would be willing to buy it. On average it takes 2.5 weeks for them to ship to me in America and clear customs FYI.
FYI they have また、同じ夢を見ていた if you prefer physical (I prefer ebooks for the easy dictionary look up myself)
Actually the bigger issue is the the 3DS console is region locked–I have two (one US one JP) because of that. DS games can be played regardless of region, but not 3DS. Switch is back to being region free. Switch also lets all accounts on it play each others games, so it’s super easy to have one account for your region and one for JP, which also makes purchasing on the eshop a lot easier as well (switching the region on a single account can wipe any funds remaining on that account, or at least it did a few years back, so two accounts was way less hassle).
Thanks for the recommendation, but I actually already got a ROM
I just have to test if it works now, which I’ll do tomorrow
And don’t ask me where I got it
I’ll have a look regarding the book, though ![]()
It surely has been a while ![]()
Here’s some nice piano music to celebrate! (I’m hooked to this song, both the sung and the piano version)
Congratulations! ![]()
And to finish the day, I also finished the last 130 of my Bunpro reviews at once lol

Seems like I need to decrypt the rom, but I can’t find anything that is not for Windows or python 2.
Could someone please help me? ![]()
Just use WINE / Python 2?
Not sure how to download that.
Will try wine though, I’ve never used it until now
Yayyyy! Keep us posted ![]()
And so @NeoArcturus さん set foot on the path that will eventually lead to becoming a wine connaisseur like @prouleau さん ![]()
I definitely will!
And sharing screenshots is now way easier as well, now that I can play it on my laptop!
I’m not gonna tell you what to do or not to do in you personal life, Just reminding you that you’re on a public forum with rules about what you can and can’t write about… so perhaps take another look at the Welcome to the WaniKani Cummunity (Pleased read this First!) thread to see how you gonna write about this subject.
I simply won’t
I know it might not be the best thing to do, but I didn’t really want to pay for a game a second time just because it’s region locked.
If you want, I can edit that out, but I don’t think I’ve violated any rules (I didn’t share my resources as per the very last point of the forum rules, and I don’t plan to do so because I know that this isn’t allowed).
Was just making sure you are aware, that’s all. Better safe than sorry.
Well, let’s go! I’m doing 100% and will also look how long it takes me to do so!
Before we begin, this is not a blind playthrough. I’ve already done 100% once on my actual 3DS console, but it’s been quite a while since I’ve done that, so let’s see how much I remember.
Day 1 (Time spent today: 1h 6m; Total time spent so far: 1h 6m)

Obviously, we don’t need Furigana, since we’re pros, right? (Let’s see how fast I will regret this decision lol)
This is the letter that the princess receives in the beginning:

Damn, there are so many kanji that I don’t know
But the letter should be saying something like that princess Peach and everyone from the Mushroom kingdom is invited to go to Makurano Island, and that they should enjoy their holiday there (not as imperative as I just wrote, though). And here I already notice a first difference btw: The island is called “La Dormita” in the German version.
The following dialog is not too interesting (except for the part where the professor constantly falls asleep lol), but I’m quite surprised by how much I understand without any or only few look ups. I don’t have a 100% comprehension, but it seems that I can get the general gist fairly quickly.
I will write down 眠る as a new vocab, though, as I have no doubt that it will be used throughout the whole story hehe.
And we’re already at the first fight, though it’s just an intro fight
BUT THE MUSIC IS SOOOO GOOD!!!
And now we’re falling! (Ok no we’re not, everything starting from the fight was a dream of Luigi).
Btw I’ve noticed a small delay between my click and the action in the emulator, so I’ll have to be careful about that. To be fair, my laptop was certainly not meant for gaming.
The blocks also seem to use a lot of keigo
And now, after some more dialog, which wasn’t too hard to follow, I can finally move!
It feels so weird to play on a keyboard lol
And here’s a cool reference to the third part of the Mario and Luigi series hehe
How about some coins hehe
Well, I think that’s it for today! The beginning has a lot of dialog, which is why I’m not that fast, but this is not a speedrun ![]()
