Is it worth completing two foundation textbooks?

Hello! I recently finished the Genki series and my plan is to go through Minna no Nihongo 2 beginner focusing on stuff I haven’t remembered well before starting the intermediate. Is this a good idea or is my time better spent going straight to the intermediate books as I’ve also been told that it’s not such a good use of time to go through another beginner text, but I’m planning on using Minna Chyukyuu as the intermediate books and don’t want to have missed anything.

What would you suggest, anyone found any benefit from going through both books ie Minna and Genki or am I better off going straight to the intermediate ones?

Thank you very much!

Why not give the intermediate one a go and see if you feel up to it? You’re not going to miss anything basic in language learning in the long run anyway.

I bought Minna no Nihongo in the beginning of my Japanese journey. I did a chapter and abandoned the textbook. It was really basic and boring. Lingodeer app was far more useful for me.

I’d also recommend Shin Kanzen Master N4, N3 grammar books.

Beginner textbooks all cover basically the same material. Some of it you will want to revisit at some point in your intermediate journey (passive, causative, and verbs of giving and receiving are topics that I think are both complicated and foundational enough to require a refresher for most people), but I think you’ll be better off going back to your Genki texts for the specific sections that you want to re-cover at the point where you find you need that refresher, rather than buying and working through an entire different basic textbook before starting on the intermediate one.
