I’m using tsurukame and I have an option checked where it plays the audio of a word when I enter it
I’m on level 5, and for some reason it’s playing the incorrect audio for these words specifically sometimes
毎月- the audio for this is まいげつ when the required submission is まいつき
毎年- the audio for this is まいねん when the required submission is まいとし
Does anybody know what’s going on here? It plays a random audio, so is the wanikani API returning an incorrect audio track in the list of audio for the vocab?
This is incredibly frustrating because I can’t seem to remember the words since hearing them is a huge part of learning for me. I keep entering the wrong thing
Both readings are correct and I don’t know why Wanikani doesn’t accept both. Perhaps because one is more common that the other (まいつき and まいとし being way more common respectively), but the audio shouldn’t play for both if that’s the case. Honestly, if you’re using Tsurukame and this bothers you, I would use the cheat option and mark this correct. You’re not “learning the wrong thing” either way.

Tsurukame doesn’t offer a cheating option where I can mark any answer as correct AFAIK. It’s just confusing to me that wanikani is returning these audio tracks from the API for this word if it doesn’t consider them valid responses. I’d say that’s probably a bug, because Tsurukame is loading the audio files directly from wanikani

It does. You do need to enable it in your settings though, I can’t remember what the default is. I’m guess off if you’ve never touched it.

I agree. Either both answers should be accepted or the audio for the “incorrect” reading should be removed.
This seems to be an issue specific to Tsurukame, in WaniKani, the audio for both 毎年 and 毎月 is まいとし and まいつき, and typing in まいねん and まいげつ will prompt a warning rather than mark you incorrectly.
