I love that 無茶 means "absurd."

It’s like someone said, “No tea?! Well that’s absurd!!” and it somehow made its way into the vernacular.

Like, I have no idea if that’s the actual origin of the word or not but the idea of it is funny to me.

I think it’s my new favorite Japanese word.

In this case, it’s just ateji (kanji chosen because their sounds matched the existing word), but it can still be funny.
