I know it is recommended to keep Apprentice items under 100. But is there a recommended number of Guru items?

I’m coming back after a long absence. I leveled myself down some to cut back on the number of reviews I need to do, and I’ve been trying to get my review stack down as much as possible.

I’m down to 38 Apprentice items, but I’ve got 358 Guru items.

In order to create a maintainable workload, is there a recommended number of Guru items?

The workload drops exponentially with every SRS tier because the reviews become spread out over a much longer time, that’s why people focus on apprentice reviews. Besides, if you fail your guru reviews, the items will fall back to apprentice so it’s still going to factor in your pace if you use apprentice count to decide if you do more lessons.

So no, I wouldn’t recommend trying to limit the number of guru reviews, they will naturally smooth out with time if you keep your routine in check.

Also keep in mind that, even if you get your reviews 100% correct and exactly on time, items remain in apprentice state for a minimum of 3.5 days while guru items take at least 3 weeks to move on to the highest tier. As a result you will normally always have many more guru items than apprentice if your pace is steady.

Your number of daily reviews is roughly your Appprentice count plus 10% of your Guru count. 100 Apprentice plus 500 Guru will give you roughly 150 daily reviews. That is a manageable amount for many.

I personally try to keep my Apprentice under 100 and my Guru under 600. I also take 10 new items a day now. With that my average reviews per day is about 150 give or take (i do reviews 2 times a day).

I notice when I get over those numbers my reviews get closer to 200 a day sometimes which can really be a grind, the apprentice number really matters most I think, but i get leeches stuck in guru sometimes which also take extra time and effort. Hope this helps!
