How to learn about JAPAN?

Are there any good resources out there to learn about Japan as a country? Its History, culture, people, etc.

Yes, there are.

Indeed. Just visit the local library and ask for help about the subject.

Also, OP, have you tried Google? There are tons of articles about Japan and it’s lovely culture, festivals, history, food, onsen, gardens, geisha culture, modern media etc. etc. etc.

If you wanna keep it closer to home, there are also a bunch of Tofugu articles that might interest you.

I recommend History of Japan by George Sansom. It is 3 volumes.

I have just started the first one and I’m liking it so far. I tried sitting through The Making of Modern Japan by Marius Jansen but I don’t like his narrative. However, it has great reviews and I have read many good things about it.

Well, for one thing, Tofugu - the company behind WaniKani - has a great blog about Japan:
