How many people have made it to level 60 .. level 30... and so on?

#1

Do any of you know how many people make it to the end? Hopefully I’ll be more motivated by knowing how many make it!

#2

…Because I am just a level 5 underling right now

#3

Roughly 125 million speak Japanese, you can too!

#4

I would be interested in some statistics like this as well. It’d be interesting to know that I had surpassed x% of users

#5

Would need to make a script to figure that out.

As far as I know there are 3333 members who have been around for at least a year and posted at least once in the forums.

And at least 21290 WaniKani accounts including staff.

Furthermore some members who have reached 60 don’t have a lifetime/on-going subscription account and their account reverts to level 3 once their subscription ends.

I’m just going to leave this here: https://community.wanikani.com/t/Interesting-stats/14705/2
And this: https://community.wanikani.com/t/For-the-math-types-Level-to-Reach-60/11397/16

EDIT: @rfindley I’d be interested in seeing an updated graph (see link 2) since the one you posted in the past was from December of 2015. Even a side-by-side comparison would be interesting. : D

#7

[This one] is from May of 2016.

I don’t have anything newer at the moment.

#8

Haha, I always wonder how much data rfindley had from everyone using his fantastic site. I would of wanted to make one till I saw his lol.

#9

At any given moment, the only thing I have is API keys, which makes it easier to troubleshoot people’s issues on the site. Every now and then, I run a script to fetch specific info for a statistic, but I don’t keep the data.

#10

Interesting!

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I’m used to corporate levels of auditing so lots of login/usage data collection there lol.

#11

Okay, here’s the current graph. This is only people who have visited the stats site (ever), and have unlocked at least one item in the last 90 days.

#12

Is it possible to crop the graph from level 20 onward?
Curious to see how many people there are because it looks really flat from far away.

#13

Here’s the jsfiddle for the whole graph: http://jsfiddle.net/6powreve/14/
And one for the graph below: http://jsfiddle.net/6powreve/15/

I’m guessing that once you reach level 45 it becomes pretty unlikely to not reach level 60. That, in addition to the fact that 46-60 are the “fast” levels, means people probably get there and then don’t spend much time there (relatively speaking) before they get to 60.

#15

They may be “fast” in principle, but they are certainly not easy
Especially because you have a huge workload from lower levels  At least that’s how it was for me.

#16

Plus, as someone pointed out a year or so ago, it’s possible that higher level people spend less time on the stats site… either too busy, or just aren’t interested in tracking anymore. Hard to say.

Interestingly, thanks to the new forums, it’s now possible to determine everybody’s WK level… and it’s pretty easy to do so. It would be interesting to compare my stats site data with the overall WK data.

#17

Oh, I don’t doubt that. My assumption was that trying to maintain minimum level up speed at that point became harder, not easier. But even if you make a bunch of mistakes, it’d be relatively easier to do better than “normal” minimum speed.

#18

So, there are currently about 79 level-60’s who are currently active (within 3 months), excluding former level-60’s “the level-3’s”, right?

#19

… that have visited the stats site. I only have about 6700 users on the stats site, compared to WK’s 21,300.

#20

Oh, I saw that one… (I noticed my post shortly after yours there) in the past…

I think that is the one I was actually searching for when I linked the other one, but found the even older one instead. \_( )_/
Thanks!
