I bought the WANIKANI lifetime subscription back in 2016 ($100) but only made it up to level 8. Never used it again because I have been studying through other methods throughout the years but I want to get back to it. I am completely free of time throughout these several months please any advice on how long it would it take to reach level 60?
At full speed it takes just over a year, but thatās not recommended. Usually people take 2-3 years.
At full speed, it takes just less than one year (not sure if itās still 344 days). Someone made a guide regarding using WaniKani well, or even be fast if you feel like it.
Personally, I think even if you want to be fast, aim for like 1.5-2 years, rather than max speed. (But possibly drop to 3 years or something during the journey.)
Took me 5 years but I took it slowly with lots of reading, watching and passing N2 on the way.
If youāve been studying all these years, whatās your kanji knowledge like these days?
If you have strong bases I donāt know that WaniKani is necessarily the best way to improve your kanji out vocab knowledge, although it certainly canāt hurt.
Took me 2.5 years. Had done āmeaning RTKā before (including writing with correct stroke order, but no readings) and forgotten the second half of it.
I slowed down considerably after level 40 while doing WK.
I am usually quite good at remembering things but I feel like rushing through WK in just one year, most people will forget a lot of it quite soon, unless they also spend a lot of time with other activities like reading.
You can check out the Level 60 Celebration posts to get an idea of how long it takes for different people. It took me almost two years of very consistently doing 10ā15 lessons and all of my reviews, every single day.
