I tried both of these, and they got rejected.
The only acceptable translation is “ten thousand”?
What am I doing, writing a college paper?Screenshot_20190808-212848_Chrome|690x379
I’m actually tempted to try 10000 just to see if it works…

This is because of how the spell checking system works. Generally speaking, the spell checking allows for a certain number of errors given a certain size of word, and in three letter words it won’t accept any errors. If you wrote 60000 instead of 10000 that could still be marked correct because only 1 character (digit) is wrong. Thus, the system is to write out the number.
Wanikani does allow for manually blacklisting answers – for a time, writing “father” instead of “mother” for certain words was a correct answer. Maybe there’s a similar whitelist? I would report it and see what they say.
@dsemumi I believe there is a similar whitelist for numbers now. I expect 10000 would work, and if it doesn’t they’d probably add it to the whitelist.
@MaxWyght You can add your own synonyms to words, so feel free to add 10 thousand. Just keep in mind what @Ilyasaur said about how the typo system works.
10000 works. I tried 10k too and it was rejected. Should’ve been accepted.
I got annoyed by that as well, since i always wrote 10 thousand. I just added it as a user synonym since i knew that i knew it
It can be accepted. Just add a user synonym.
As soon as they get the mind-reading system up and running it’ll all be moot.
They’ll probably release that before EtoEto.
Can’t wait for that update!
Seriously though, “5 things” and “7 days” are accepted. No, it’s not a big deal for me, just slightly irritating. I know I can just add user synonyms
At some point they have to limit things. The meanings they list are not meant to be an exhaustive list of every permutation of every form the number can take. For example, what about 10 grand?
10 bags of sand works on mine.
