Hey guys how can I write my name in Japanese?

so I wanted to write my name in Japanese for my profile to seem cool but I have a problem, you know we don’t have gh or l (at least I think so) in Japanese do we?
So how can I write my name in Japanese?
My name is Reza Ghezelbash Asl.

You can give yourself a Japanese name instead.

Well, I’m probably wrong, but I’d transcribe your name as

レザ・ゲゼルバシュ・アセル

But it’s kinda strange like if someone else wanna translate my name won’t be like my name in Persian or Arabic it’s like saying Reza gezelbashu Asru but I don’t have a problem with that until it seems cool

The problem is that the name is entirely based on phonetic pronounciation. So it’s important to try to find the sounds that are as close as possible to the sound in your name.

I’m sorry, as I’ve said, I might be wrong in this.
But the problem here is that in Japanese, all consonants except for ん are open, (and also R and L are not diffirentiated), so, for example, ライト can be light, right, rite…

Could you try to phonetically spell your name in English? From there, we can help with changing that into katakana

Find a famous person who uses that sound in their name (I recommend athletes or politicians). Go to their Wikipedia article. See if they have a Japanese Wikipedia article. If they do, you can see how the name is transcribed.

Be prepared for it to be different from how you’d pronounce it.

Sry Idk how to write in English phonetic alphabet but with katakana sounds are like e=エ a=ア and A in Asl is pronounced as a in cat

And would it be Rehzya or Rehza

You’re making an assumption we know how to pronounce your name. That wouldn’t be the case for most people here because most of the community members are from Europe or the US.

But Japanese transliteration often sounds pretty far from the original language anyway.

This is really well done and I think as close as you’ll get. Many sounds of other languages can only be approached in Japanese but not matched, and some have to be replaced.

I would probably go with レザ・ゲゼルバシュ・アス in that case.
