The Tour/User Guide will give you an idea of how fast WaniKani alone is “supposed” to work. There’s also the “What Do I Do Now?” thread that will give you plenty of ideas of what to do in your down time, if you’re really raring to go!

It depends on how much effort you put into it.
If you push WaniKani to its limit, you can reach 60 within a year.

I started on the 4th of July last year— only got 7 levels to go.
