Have you ever encountered a small hiragana vowel?

Hi all, just encountered this song on Spotify:
うっせぇわ
What is that small ぇ ?? it’s not the small っ, ゃ,ょ,ゅ and it’s not a katakana small vowel, so I don’t know how to treat this character, nor how to read this song title…
Can you help please?
Arigato!

When it follows the same sound, it’s just an elongation. It’s a slangy version of うるさい, I think.

You see this a lot in manga where the small versions make more sense than using ー and are used for a longer drawn out effect.

E.g. うるせぇぇぇぇぇ

Try playing video games. Then you’ll have to decide whether to equip the ロングソード or トゥハンドソード. :joy:

If it’s in hiragana, it’s used for the elongation of the vowel sound, usually when the word isn’t written in katakana, it takes on a more super casual connotation/dialectal/slang meaning as well. うっせぇ is the super slangy version of うるさい
like the dialect for だから as because in parts of the Chugoku region is だけ or だけぇ
But you also see small vowels in katakana words usually for the fa, fi, fe, fo sounds (e.g. カフェ 、フォロー、フィリピン、ファミマ)
Like my name (Shane) in katakana - シェイン
