"Girl"/"Woman"

How do Japanese actually say those? Between 少女, 女の子, 女子 and 女, 女の人 I have no idea which I should use and when. Are some more common than others? Are some more polite than others? To what ages do they apply? Are there other ways to say girl/woman, aside from those?

Search for those terms here and you will have plenty of reading material for the day.

Thank you for locating the search function! Nonono, not the one up there in the top right corner, that’s too far for the mouse to travel! I mean, of course, myself! you’re welcome

Don’t know if it’s worth anything, but my teacher told me if you just use 「女」to talk about a woman instead of 「女の人」, it sounds like you’re talking about your mistress. She also said that for 「男,」, using instead of 「男の人」sounds like you’re talking about a criminal by the way. Don’t know how accurate that is, I don’t have enough experience yet.
