Function of で in the following sentence

Hey! I came across the following sentence in a book:

この スーパー には、とても 真面目 で 働 き 者 の 店員 がいます。

the same book already provides a translation for this sentence as:

At this supermarket , there is a clerk who is very diligent and hard-working.

I am just confused about the function of the particle で here. Is it working as “AND” ??? Can someone please help me out here? thanks!

It is the “and” in the translation, yes. Just like you can connect an い-adjective to another adjective by change い to くて (for example, 面白い → 面白くて), you can connect a な-adjective to another adjective by adding で. When you end a sentence with a な-adjective you add だ (assuming plain form). Well, で is just the て-form of だ, which is why you use that to connect it to the next adjective.
