Oh absolutely no need to be sorry! It shows me that the series continues to be good, and so I look forward to it even more ![]()
By the way, fellow Flesh&Blood addicts!
I will travel to the UK around the end of the month, and while I will go to Scotland first, I could free up another week at the end of my trip, and I was thinking of turning it into yet another “Following the Flesh&Blood trail” journey! So now the question is: Where should I go?
And that’s where I need your crowdsourcing energies! ![]()
I was thinking of these places so far:
- Land’s End / Lizard Point
- Plymouth
- Arundel Castle (where [Vol. 8 spoiler]Kaito was imprisoned by Vincente)
- Some other places on the southern coast (where specifically? Need to look into this again)
- Some places around the mouth of the Thames
I will not go to London this time because I will travel with my small campervan and thus can easily explore the countryside. It feels somewhat wasteful to go to London with it ![]()
So if there are any spots that you’d be particularly interested in having me see (and post pics here of course) then fire away! ![]()
So many threads.
And yet so few at the same time… ![]()
You’re on yet another holy pilgrimage, I see.
It’s a shame Whitehall burned down; I suppose you could loiter around the Whitehall area or something. I wonder if there are any monuments/plaques/etc. memorializing the old palace?
I remember Geoffrey and co. went to one particular port as soon as (vol. 8 spoiler) Kaito was kidnapped, before Geoffrey went to investigate Arundel, but I can’t remember what port that was off the top of my head either. I’d need to double-check myself.
Kaito does briefly mention his Drake travel itinerary early in volume 1, though Land’s End and Plymouth probably covers all the important points there.
Yes I also thought about that one and couldn’t remember it either
I guess we can figure it out together.
I’m planning to do another trip just to London (but not this year) so this suggestion will go in the bucket list for that one then.
Oh, of course ![]()
Buckland Abbey!
(And the Golden Hind would be another entry on the London trip bucket list).
That sounds like an epic journey for sure! ![]()
All I can say is, you need to check out:
Beware of fairy rings and drum sounds!
![]()
Resist the urge to play nine pins as well ![]()
I wish I had started keeping track of how often the POLL thread changed to an F&B title; we’re practically celebrities on WK. Here’s the current on for posterity:

Didn’t they still have Drake’s drum around?
I hope you get to see it! ![]()
Wikipedia claims that this is indeed the case ![]()
If I remember correctly I think it was Portsmouth. As for other places on the southern coast, I don’t think they’ve actually gone in the story but Kaito mentions Falmouth (volume 9) as the place he grew up in his fake backstory he told Vicente. Apparently there’s a maritime museum there that might be cool to see.
Enjoy your trip! I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures ![]()
Important Announcement! ![]()
I just got copies of the two F&B gaidens, and just learned that they contain reprinted stories of some of the F&B bonus stories! Seems to specifically be the ones from 小説Chara. Rejoice! Now you can all read proper digital versions! (Of just some of the 小説Chara stories; 5 have not been reprinted in these books.)
Book 1 contains:
- ミニアと呼ばれた男 (originally published in 小説Chara vol. 9)
- 女王陛下の海賊たち (originally published in 小説Chara vol. 17)
- 妖精の分け前 (originally published in 小説Chara vol. 19)
- 船出 (originally published in 小説Chara vol. 21)
Book 2 contains:
- 昨日の友 (originally published in 小説Chara vol. 25)
- 舟遊び (originally published in 小説Chara vol. 27)
- 人の望みの喜びよ (originally published in 小説Chara vol. 30)
- 流浪の森を抜けて (newly written for this book)
- 祝福されたる花 (newly written for this book)
I’ve only checked out the stories I’ve read so far (ミニアと呼ばれた男 and 女王陛下の海賊たち) for a quick glance at differences. ミニア’s original art is not included in this reprint of the story, but both it and 海賊たち have a new piece of art done by F&B’s current illustrator.
In light of the fact that these are now known to be easily available, I’ll be taking down my scans of ミニア and 海賊たち, and will not make scans of the other stories available. I’ll see if I can still post any original art for these stories, though.
Edit: I’m going to change the page counts for these printed stories to match what’s in the book vs. the original printing, since more people are likely to read the reprint vs. the original. (Example: ミニア was originally printed over 31 pages in the magazine, but is printed over 90 in the reprint.) I’ll make sure to leave note of the original page count, however.
Okay, all of my numbers should be updated. I also added another section in the Statistics section of our short story-tracking sheet keeping track of who 松岡先生 loves most who’s been featured as a POV character most often in the short stories. Let me know if there are any other fun statistics I should add~ Might see if I can add a section detailing how many stories should be read after which volume (keeping to timeline continuity as much as we’re able), but I’m not sure how I’d want to set that up yet.
I reread that section yesterday and you are right, it was Portsmouth. (They seem to have a gazillion ships there from various epochs, very hyped to get there and to see them all!)
Oh thanks, I wondered which place that was but was too lazy to check. I looked it up and it seems to be a sweet little village! Will probably go there on my way to Plymouth. Thanks for the ping!
Also, I did The Crazy Thing™ and got myself a ticket for a Shakespeare play in Stratford on Avon (his hometown)
Now I need to first find out what it’s all about… It’s called Cymbeline and it appears to be a romance. And it’s super long! I hope I will understand anything though… (Rip if they keep the medieval English
)
That’s amazing! I’m sure it’s going to be great, even if you can’t follow all the words.
Checks Wikipedia: Cymbeline - Wikipedia
Although it is listed as a tragedy in the First Folio, modern critics often classify Cymbeline as a romance or even a comedy. Like Othello and The Winter’s Tale, it deals with the themes of innocence and jealousy.
Sounds pretty interesting.

Hello everyone! It’s time for the newest episode of “where do you keep finding these F&B stories? Are you just making them up at this point?”. I have four new F&B stories to add to our official list; I would’ve listed them sooner, but three of the four have no specific release date attributed to them, so I’ve had to do some digging in order to fit them to a date. Without further ado:
- The easiest of the four. 帝王の悪習 was released in this month’s 小説Chara, vol. 48 (released May 22, 2023). @NicoleIsEnough it’s no proof-positive of 松岡先生’s current state of health, but there is an author comment included in the magazine:
今年の花粉は凄かったですね。かく言う今もまだヒノキにやられています。本当にマスクを外せるのはいつ?
We’ll have to wait and see if there’s any new F&B in this year’s Chara birthday fair. ![]()
- The second and third I stumbled upon while doing research into all the doujinshi that 松岡先生 has published over the years (she’s had a hand in at least 80 by my count
). There’s one particular series she’s released volumes for over the years called Vivace; I have no idea how these were distributed, unfortunately; it doesn’t look like it was online from what little I can glean from her old website, so I’m wondering if she sold them at Comiket personally? No clue at present.
Anyway, I’ve managed to get my hands on (afaik) all the currently-released volumes of Vivace, and wouldn’t you know it the last two contain F&B stories. None of the Vivace books have release dates printed in them (whyyyy), but I think I can generally pin down a release year for them both based on her author comments: - Vita Umbratilis - sometime in 2001, after the attack on the World Trade Center. Her entire author forward is dedicated to it.
- フェイス - sometime in 2002, likely late 2002. She has release dates for her upcoming 2003 releases listed.
- And the final one, 硝子. This one I probably should have gone out and bought a lottery ticket afterwards; I found it being sold randomly on a seconhand-site and snapped it up. It’s a single sheet of paper, printed front and back, and distributed at an unknown time and place, and the listing gave no useful details.
As far as I can tell, it was published sometime after Vivace 13 (the one that contains フェイス) since she mentions Vivace 14. She mentions H. K. ドラグネット’s re-publication, as well as something about an F&B goodie pack being sold (as well as two new short stories, from Alonso and Ewan’s perspective? Could refer to F&B Gaiden 2 or something I’ve never seen before…).
This one’s a bit tougher to place. Vivace 13 was probably published sometime in 2002, but H. K. ドラグネット’s reprints were published starting August 2011 (July 31, technically), so that’s quite a gap. I guess I’ll leave it at a tentative 2011, but being able to identity the new short stories mentioned would help quite a bit. That and/or the goods set (a poster and clear folder). Most of the F&B merch I’m familiar with doesn’t include posters, so I’m a bit stumped on that one.
Anyway, there you have it. Just when I think I’m done plumbing all of her past publications to find this stuff more pops up. Let me know everyone if you’d like more details; I’m happy to provide!
(Speaking of posters, have you seen the ones made to advertise the first, second (link includes a poster for the third as well), fifth, and tenth drama CDs, @ekg?)
Ah, she’s got hay fever from not wearing a mask outside, during blooming for the first time in ages. ![]()
I hadn’t seen the posters. I only got one of them to work though. the rest got me to yahoo. ![]()
The Yahoo ones should link you to Yahoo Japan auctions. Odd it doesn’t seem to be redirecting you properly?
Aaah, interesting. Well, in that case here’s a separate link to CD 10’s poster, at least. Google searching “flesh&blood ポスター” brings back a lot of noise, but you can also see other ones there as well.
Edit: Changing that search query to “flesh&blood cd ポスター” seems to yield better results…
That’s gorgeous stuff!
I love how Kaito is praying in the image! ^^
the others are really beautiful as well! I just love this artist’s work! <3
