Flaming Durtle Issue

I started to reply to an old post and WK asked if I REALLY wanted to post to an OLD topic. So here I am with a new one.

I recently went on a road trip and rather than going on ‘vacation mode’ I used my phone to do WK. My accuracy took a hit (not paying attention because of sights to see while riding in the car, getting distracted by people asking for directions, etc.).

Since I can see doing this again in the future, I installed Flaming Durtles today (while riding in a car) and was immediately happy with being able to ‘undo’ a goofy errors :).

However when I finished my review, I noticed a message stating, "WK is not accepting your API token. Did you give your API token the correct permissions?

I looked in settings both in Flaming Durtles and in WK and I can’t find how to give these ‘correct’ permissions. How do I get my reviews on FD to be accepted in WK?

Also, how do I log out of the FD app?

Flaming Durtles isn’t being updated any more - the replacement is Smouldering Durtles.

It’s entirely possible your issue is unrelated, but it’s still best to try the current version first. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll give it a shot!

I still use Flaming Durtles occasionally at work, no issues.
Create a new token in website’s account menu with all boxes (assignments, reviews, study materials) checked except the last one (user). Paste the token to Flaming Durtles in Settings / API and audio download settings.

The answer to that is always an emphatic yes.

I did reply to an old post at least once (maybe twice) before and got no response. So I created a new topic and immediately got responses.

Theoretically, your ALWAYS ‘yes’ is the correct response. But it doesn’t ALWAYS work out that way…still new to this forum business so I’m just feeling my way through this

I’ve also read other posts that experienced the same issue with no responses when using old posts and immediately got responses via a new topic.

Whuh? Huh? I had no idea! I haven’t noticed anything wrong with Flurtles, but I’d better get switched

It’s not so much that it’s actually broken, it’s just that if it ever does break, noone will fix it.

Thanks for your response. I realized that I needed to do this when I installed Smouldering Durtles which now works with no issues! But after having this issue (which turned out to be my fault) and @Belthazar pointing out that FD is no longer supported, I uninstalled FD.

Bottom line, it’s like what @Belthazar said…

Thanks again for pointing out what I should have done!

EXACTLY!!! So I uninstalled FD and installed SD with no issues because I realized that I didn’t do what @KaiserFranz said I should have done! And now all is fine with the (learning Japanese on the go) world

This was pretty much the reason I why I did the work on SD - it looked like FD might break with the kana vocab being added. As I worked with the code more, it became clear that the defaulting in the logic flows would have handled it without any errors, just not displayed it properly as kana-only, so not a major concern for most people.

It’s more just not knowing if there will be any further breaking changes to the API down the line and making sure that there’s a working solution or people if there is ^-^

Thank you SO MUCH for making SD. I don’t use my phone much, except if I go on a trip, but when I do, it is SO MUCH nicer now that I can correct silly typos!!!

You’re very welcome - I can’t take credit for much of the original work done to make Flaming Durtles, just a few updates and API modernisations. I also don’t have much time to work on it or add features lately, but I promise that I’ll at least always try and keep it working no matter what changes come ^-^
