Feature request: hide toggle for context sentences

Hello! I’ve been really enjoying WaniKani for the past 9 months or so. In particular the context sentences have been extremely helpful as I’ve been pairing grammar questions with Claude to help me understand nuances, and these sentences provide a big range.

One small upgrade with some big impact for me would be a function to hide / unhide the English translation. The issue I’ve noticed over time is that, unintentionally, I sometimes cheat and read out parts of the English translation below (especially if katakana is involved). The proximity of the English to Japanese sentence makes it too easy to do that. Ideally as I am learning a new vocab I could nav into the example page and all of the English could be obfuscated. After I have attempted the reading, it would be nice to toggle the specific English line to essentially “check my work”.

Excited about continued progression. Thank you!

Would be a nice feature for sure. There is a user script (Wanikani Hide Context Sentence) that does this. Not a toggle though, English is hidden by default and shown if you mouse over it.

If you are making use of the context sentences as part of your study you might also find the Advanced Context Sentences 2 user script useful.

@mgrice thank you for the rec! Happy I could get it working on the iPad. Would love a native solution, but this will work for me in the interim :folded_hands:

Follow up here, I’ve been using the script mgrice mentioned and it has been helping a lot (for anyone who also runs into this problem).

Related, today I spotted this component on a Tofugu grammar page:
