Seriously, it took so long today! I had nearly 300 reviews today and there were a good amount that I struggled with. Once again learning a new language is not easy in the slightest.

Yeah, didn’t take nearly as long as it did yesterday, I’m not really sure what’s up for why it took so long that day. Today’s was pretty normal for me, so about two hours lol

Geez, today was rough. Got a lot more wrong than I would prefer to (which is of course, zero). I’ll blame it on all the new words the level up has given me lol

I learned all sorts of words like 折り紙 (May have already known that one ahead of time :P). Since today is book club day, I’ll take a little break and then hop right on that.

Naturally as I don’t have enough time during lunch, I wasn’t able to finish my Japanese until I got home. So why was it that Wanikani gave me the most I’ve ever received before??? I had over 300 reviews for the first time today.

Today, I learned about 辞める, which means to quit, but since it’s pronounced やめる, ai thought it meant to stop. Perhaps it’s an alternative meaning?

(more precisely you will need the surrounding context to know which one is correct in your case)
When you have a doubt like this you can use やめる – Japanese dictionary search – jpdb
or やめる - Jisho.org to quickly check if you’re not losing your mind…
There’s even more ambiguity here, considering that the original phrase was not “I thought it meant to stop”, but
Purrhaps, it was a typo and it was really @Dathmach who thought it meant to stop.
Or maybe it’s not a typo and @Dathmach asked some AI who thought it meant to stop.
Or maybe @Dathmach is the AI – not like ChatGPT, but a true AI from the future (or another planet)!

And speaking of ambiguity, it’s good to have a 契機 to eat some ケーキ、as long as it won’t result in receiving some 刑期 
I can be viewed as just やめる in spoken language since olden days, with various nuances.
Then one day, Kanji arrived from China to Japan, to make writing possible, grand, and official.
So 止める is another way to write this sound. (which gives rise to another problem – spoken とめる and とどめる are sometimes also written with exactly this form.)
Another thing to keep in mind. It isn’t necessarily that やめる is written using any Kanji at all. Not using Kanji is a choice. When there is no Kanji, what it means is no difference from English. – I put end to something.
I see Japanese as shorthand emoji language for this part. So many symbols similar to emojipedia

Apparently I’m getting pretty close to another level up. Despite that thought, I’m still getting lots of new words everyday. That’s fine though, since that means that I’m learning Japanese, so everything is going all according to 企画. Still, there’s book club today so I’m gonna take a break and then get right on it.

I had over 300 reviews again, so it’s really no surprise that it took so long to get it all done. On the bright side, I only need to guru one more kanji, so there’s a pretty good chance I level up tomorrow.

I got to level 17 today! And with it, it taught me about a kanji that I’ve been seeing in just about every bookclub. It means nothing. Still haven’t taught me how it sounds though, so that’ll have to come later.
