Finally got my Wanikani done…
Wanikani took so long today! I’ve been sort of thinking of doing my own reading to try to speed up the learning process, but I’m definitely not going to do it today. Doing extra practice after Wanikani is already hard enough, it’s impossible when I have to do it all day.
I did learn about how to say 無 and 細い though. I did try looking up 細い男… with results that I should have been expecting yet didn’t.

I really had so little Wanikani today, it’s shocking. I can only guess that I did most of what I would have had today yesterday, which means I’m probably going to have quite a bit more tomorrow…
Also it’s off that I obly recently started this level but am already having days with no new lessons.
Another super long Wanikani day…
I once again had to do over 300 reviews today. I’m starting to really look forward to level 30 since I’ll stop doing all my reviews each day if they’re at such a despicable amount. I’ll be focusing on other forms of learning, which I’m hoping will be tons of reading.
Looked up a bit of Japanese grammar…
How the heck does 魚は猫が食べる mean that the cat eats a fish??? I thought that を was necessary for that!!!
I think it’s better to understand the translation of the sentence as:
As for fish, the cat eats it (or the cat is the one that can eat it, per se).
I’m not an expert on grammar, so take everything I say with a grain of salt 
“を” would be used to mark the topic of the sentence. In this case the thing that’s gonna get eaten, which is the fish. If you are to use it, the sentence would be written like this:
魚を食べる
to mean: I eat fish, for example. I think the focus here is more on the verb of eating and what’s being eaten.
“は” is also a topic marker, which is best translated as “as for”. I’m not sure if the following example is correct, but you can write something like that:
魚は食べる
to mean: as for fish, I eat. The focus here is also on the topic of the sentence, which is the fish.
The two examples above would, however, be used differently in context. The first one, for example, could be the answer to the question “What would you like to eat today?/What would you like to order?”, while the second one would be the answer to the question “Do you eat fish?/Is fish something that you eat?” during a longer conversation about what foods one can eat.
“が” would be used to mark the subject and maybe put more emphasis on it. In the following sentence:
魚は猫が食べる
The emphasis of the sentence is on who’s doing the eating and what’s being eaten and since the topic of the sentence already has a particle to mark it, it wouldn’t require a second one. I think that just the existence of “が” might sometimes be enough to omit “を” from the sentence. However, I think the first reason is the correct one, since you can write the following sentence:
私が魚を食べる
