Andy video all finished! Just a few more before I finish the video series of the first book.
Got both the Andy video (worked up the nerve to do that at work) and WaniKani done! Which means you’ll only get one study log entry from me today, sorry! ![]()
Got my WaniKani and Andy done for the day! I’m looking to finish out his videos on Genki 1 by tomorrow. While I’m definitely absorbing less than at the beginning of the video series, hopefully it’s providing a (very shaky) foundation for when I start reading.
Also my turtle is looking very worried over having 69 (nice) items tomorrow.
WaniKani and Andy is finished! With that, I’m finished with Genki 1…. sorta. To be honest, I may return to it someday when I have a better handle on Japanese. Past the halfway point I think my biggest hurdle has been that I don’t understand much Japanese yet. So it feel like there’s a lot that went over my head. In other words, squeezing something that’s meant to be done over the course of about four months into two weeks didn’t work perfectly, even with Andy’s help. Shocker.
Well, I’ll start listening to Genki 2 tomorrow, I’m now one step closer to reading! (Kinda)
Finished with WaniKani and Genki for today! I’ve started Genki 2 and was able to understand some of the stuff that was talked about, so at least my fears about not understanding a thing were unfounded.
Finished my WaniKani and Andy for the day! I’m going to spend the rest of the day getting ready for tomorrow. Even though it’s not Christmas, my family usually does a few things on Christmas Eve.
Finished my WaniKani and Andy for the day! Hope everyone has a good time with their families today!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Even on holidays it’s important to do your Japenese studies, so I’ve done plenty of WaniKani today and watched my Andy video. Also it turns out that Aniki is free??? So I guess I’ll be adding that onto my daily studying
Finished my WaniKani and Andy!
Watching anime has helped me in some cases, such as Haku being white. Easy to remember it when I think, ‘Haku has white eyes’.
…I was thinking of a different character with Haku RIP
The actual character doesn’t even have white eyes
Finished WaniKani and Andy. I’m not sure how I’m going to be able to tell apart when something is katakana or a kanji when they look exactly the same. Experience I guess.
Yeah, experience and also context.
First thing I learned about Japanese – was that context is everything!
Anyway may these difficulties not discourage you from studying and may you achieve all your goals!
They bring me fear, but I am determined to learn Japanese. Fear is something you’re meant to overcome anyhow.
Just as hard as reading handwriting…
口コミ is a classic, and recently I tried too hard at 口グセ.

Finished with my WaniKani and Andy! Looks like I’m approaching the end of the Genki videos. While I’ve definitely not grasped as much Genki 2 as I have Genki 1, hopefully that won’t hold me back too badly.
Got my WaniKani and Andy done for the day. As a surprise, I also leveled up! Seems that I’m on the last of the free levels, although I’ve already bought the lifetime (Hurray for the Christmas sale!)
Wanikani and Andy are finished! With only 2-3 Andy videos left, I really should start looking into joining the girl and dino reading club… if they’ll accept me at this point. They’ve already started reading a few weeks ago :V
They only accept girls and dinos into the club…
That, or @trunklayer is meowing around again. One of the two ![]()
On a more serious note, I’m sure they will accept you. Yes, they are ahead of you, but you would catch up quickly! ![]()
I’ve invited someone that I know who’s trying to learn Japanese from off WaniKani to join me, so I won’t be the only first time reader ![]()
Thank you, oh great ねこ for your encouragements!
Did my WaniKani and Andy today! Even though we’ll be watching a ball drop in less than 24 hours ![]()
Only one more video of Andy before I gotta try to start reading. I’m both terrified and excited. I know that reading for the first time (or rather ‘reading’) will be hard, but I’m very much looking forward to what comes when I’m past this hurdle.
