Finished with WaniKani and Andy today! The last Andy video (for now, I may return to them when I understand more) Also, I got so many wrong answers on WaniKani. Still went through everything, but there was a lot of red.
Remember, a lot of red is better than a lot of nothing!
It’s always frustraiting to fail an answer, but in case of WK reviews, it’s not a failure, but rather a way to find out which items require more work, so that you’d get more reviews on these items.
And best of luck with your studies! ![]()
Finished my WaniKani! Now it’s time for me to start deciphering. Luckily since this book club started around christmas time, there’s less pages at the beginning than normal. Hopefully that’ll make it easy to start.
Also, thank you for the luck Trunklayer! I did better today ![]()
Feline fortune is legendary in these parts!
Tokini Andy is definitely a great resource. I keep meaning to go back and watch further (I got through most of the genki I series), but it just never seems to happen. Good for you for being able to stick to it. ![]()
On the book club, I’m sure you’ll be accepted as warmly as everywhere else in the forum - it’s just a great, supportive place where you’ll find some of the best people (and animal folk) out there. Plenty of wisdom from people on how to help you achieve your study goals, and lots of community threads like ‘read every day’, ‘listen every day’, book clubs, etc.
Andy is pretty good, it’s just a shame that I understood so little by the end. I’ll probably go back to them at some point, even if it’s just listening to them in the background as I do other stuff.
I’ve tried ‘reading’ the first chapter for the book club! Although I really can’t say that what I did was anything more than stumbling through a dictionary. I’ve heard a few times that the second book goes easier, something which I hope remains true for me.
Got my WaniKani done for the day! No new words, so either I’m doing terribly with the new ones I have gotten, or I’m looking at another level up pretty soon.
Onto the second week of book club reading!
Wankani is done for the day (I got the controversial bright today). There was about 40 reviews, which feels a lot smaller than usual. Gives more more time to do today’s chapter reading I suppose.
Got my WaniKani done!
I’m totally wiped out. Something about last night didn’t let me sleep too well, perhaps anxieties about vacation coming to an end. Either way, I’m exhausted. I’m caught up with the reading (kinda, I still have this week to read, but I also have the whole week for it), so there’s a good chance that once I get home, I go straight to bed. べっど. It calls to me.
Wanikani is finished!
I’m not nearly as tired as yesterday, but I’m still feeling pretty wiped out. I’ve still got 5-6 hours before I get home too. I think any possible book club I do today is going to be dependent on how sleepy I am by the time I get home.
Got my WaniKani done.
Still feel tired, New Years really took a lot out of me. But I’m no longer feeling so tired that I’ll pass out the second I get home, so I may actually do a bit of book club today.
Finished with WaniKani! Still got a couple of days until the next chapter of book club, so I’m trying to decide what other studies I should add in.
As you have already started reading, I’d recommend adding additional reading.

Thank you for these links, I’ll be sure to look through them and attempt to do some more deciphering.
There is also great free app called
I’ve gone ahead and downloaded it.
I’ve got my WaniKani finished! All that’s left now is some flashcards and attempted readings with various sources.
WaniKani is finished.
As there’s another chapter released for the book club, I know what I’ll be doing for the rest of my Japanese studying today. And maybe tomorrow too. We’ve reached the point of the speed up and I may split it between the days of my weekend.
WaniKani is done!
Gonna be kinda busy today, making preparations for a couple things. May end up not having the time to do any studying beyond WaniKani today, we’ll have to see.
Finished with my Wanikani. That means of course that I’ve got flashcards and some simple reading to do. Maybe a little bit of grammar study too.
